Will watched as the preparations for the Dionysus Fest were made or rather the Blood Fest as some would call it. The windows were sealed shut and the tables were laid out accordingly with metal chains strong enough to hold a tiger.
Will left the hall and went to his room, the bed creaked slightly as he sat down. From his inside pocket he withdrew a folded photo. When Jude gave it to him he didn't open it though he ached to do so, this was something he needed to do on his own. To embrace a moment he didn't think he would ever get. Slowly, carefully, Will unfolded the photo and when he saw it his breath caught. Memories flooded his mind and emotions he tried to keep hidden threatened to escape. Will was drowning in the photo. The photo of a girl who broke his heart and yet he was doomed to love forever. He gently ran his finger along the edge of her face and could almost feel touching her, flesh to flesh. Countless years and countless lives had passed yet this beautiful face remained unchanged. Her long hair was as black as night, some of it fell over her pale face as the wind blew, her features were still delicate and showed a vulnerability that added to her charm. But the strangest thing, the one thing that had changed were her eyes; they were a hypnotising vivid green but now they were a mysterious brown with a hidden depth. Will touched her eyes wondering why they were different and what that meant. As he concentrated on her eyes he saw something, something that he saw in himself everyday that he tried desperately to hide; wistfulness. As if she stood before him, he stroked her face, momentarily forgetting that this was just a photo, an imitation of the real beauty that lived so far away from him for so long. Cautiously, Will placed the photo in the pocket next to his heart.
Will sensed Annabelle nearby and left his room. He materialised in front of her and she immediately took a step back. For a moment she very obviously ogled him but he ignored it.
'What is it?' Will asked impatiently. He could sense her apprehensiveness.
Suddenly Jude materialised beside Annabelle and she looked up at him in relief. She exchanged a brief glance with Jude and looked at Will. He nodded giving her his permission to leave.
Once she was gone he looked at Jude. 'Tell me.'
'Annabelle has been watching Grace very closely. She has a few people that she is close to. Her parents, her brother Tom, her friends Catherine and James and...' Jude paused and looked meaningfully at Will. 'Prepare yourself. She is with someone.'
Will took in a breath of air. He felt angry and betrayed. How could she be with someone else? Someone that's not him? Doesn't she have a hole in her life, her heart like he does? But she doesn't know him yet. Doesn't remember him or their love. He hasn't been faithful to her and he remembers her like the morning sun. Granted he was unable to be with anyone for centuries after her death but after he slept with countless women. Still they didn't mean anything, he never had anything long term or short term. Thoughts of whether she had given herself to her boyfriend spiralled through his mind. Will gritted his teeth, they never had the chance to go that far, only a stolen kiss here and there. Has someone else taken what she was to give to him?
Will's face gave away no emotion. 'And who is he?'
'Julian Ambrosia.'
Will's face paled and a fire of fury consumed him. He stood there frozen staring out into nothing wondering why fate was so cruel. The beast within him roared with rage and a dangerous jealousy enough to kill thousands and still be thirsty for blood flowed through him. The air sizzled with power and the lights flickered and went out as the bulbs shattered and glass sprinkled to the floor. Jude left and Will still stood in the darkness he bought upon himself.
