First Day Back

On her first day that she was aloud back to work, Ashley had a run, which she struggled with a bit more since she wasn't aloud to do the fitness since she got kidnapped.

Either way, when she returned to her house, she got changed and drove to the station.

She got to the station and instantly headed up. Scanning her hand going straight to her desk.
Only Antonio was there at the moment.

"Sure you don't need another week or so?" He asked as soon as she began putting her stuff away.
"We discussed this Antonio." She sighed. "I'm fine to start again." She laughed.
Antonio sighed before nodding, walking off to the break room.

After a bit, Jay walked inside the room. Instantly heading over to her.

"How're you doing? First day back at work, must be good." He smiled to her.
"I'm excited. I got bored on desk duty." She shrugged.
"Well, as long as your ready to return back to work." Jay spoke before going to his desk.

As soon as everyone was in,Voight walked out, rushed walking.

"A child was found dead at home not too long ago. Everyone has been sent the adress, everyone get there." He explained.

They arrived at the rather fancy house and instantly went inside. There were police all over the place. She headed inside with Jay before going straight to the child's room. Instantly they realised the child had been moved. Which was good since their parents were there.

Jay and Ashley checked the room before returning back to the station. Writing notes about it and printing some pictures out. They couldn't do much since they were put into the bedroom part of the case.

"Something's not right..." Ashley mumbled.
"What do you mean? Looks like the kid just... You know." Jay spoke.
"No. It's not that. It's the parents reaction when we were searching the kid's bedroom." She explained.
"You think they got her killed?" Jay asked.
"I think so. But we should keep it quiet until later on." She explained.
"You got it." He nodded.

The presentation went well and they showed what they knew. Each of them knew that it was a murder. But their only suspects for the time being was the parents and a family friend. Who apparently didn't like the girl.

"Ruzek, Halstead. I want you to speak to the parents. Find out everything you can." Voight explained.
"Wait, the last time Ashley was seperated from me, she got kidnapped. Why aren't we together?" Jay instantly asked.

"That is because Antonio and Ashley are doing a smaller task away from this. It wont be long but its long enough to take up this time." Alvin explained.

"Yeah, you two, my office." Voight spoke. They nodded and walked into his office.

"What do you need us to do?" Antonio asked as soon as Voight walked into the room.
"I need you to go talk to the family friend. Suspected murderer." He explained.
"It's Ashley's first day back. Are you sure this is a good idea?" Antonio asked.
"She'll be fine. Ashley, watch your shoulder and head." Voight told her.
"Will do." She nodded.
"Antonio. look after her." He spoke before leaving the room.

"Your car or mine?" Antonio instantly asked as they stepped outside.
"Mine. It's quicker." She smiled.
"I'm driving then." He spoke, taking the key's from her as they got to the car.

They got in and instantly drove to the adress. it was normal for Antonio and Ashley to go out together on much more dangerous tasks. They were afterall level two detectives. Alvin was the same, however he stuck with Voight.

"We still need to get into our vests." She stated.
"No need. We've got each others backs. Okay?" He asked her.
"Of course." Ashley nodded.

After a bit he began talking again. "You see a gun, you shoot him. Alright?" He asked.
"Got it." She nodded as they arrived.

They both got out of the car and instantly began heading up to the house.

As soon as they got up to the door, Antonio knocked on the door.

"Chicago PD!" He yelled.
When no answer came, Antonio moved her slightly before kicking open the door.

They moved straight in, their guns up and ready as they checked every single room. They got to the last room and they both got ready. Opening the door. There stood a man, his gun up. He began shooting but Ashley beat him to it, shooting him in the leg.

Antonio and Ashley rushed over, instantly cuffing him. Antonio pulled him up as they began walking downstairs again. The man was fighting them all the way. Antonio and Ashley ignored him, even when he caused blood from each of them. They didn't care. They just had to get him to the station.

It was a quick drive to the station and they put him into the cage downstairs. They then left to go upstairs.

As soon as they were upstairs. Antonio and her went to the break room. They sorted out their cuts and bruises that had been formed by the male fighting them.

It was no time at all before Hank, Antonio and Alvin went downstairs to discuss with him.

Ashley walked into the main office, going to her desk for a plaster. Putting it straight on under her lip.

"Your hurt. Is Antonio hurt as well?" Jay asked, walking over and taking hold of her face quite gently. His eyes roaming over her face.
"We're fine. The idiot just started fighting us after we arrested him." She shrugged.
"Rest up until Voight tells us what we have to do. If we have to do anything." Jay spoke, guiding her to sit down before leaving into the break room.

They were waiting for quite a long time before Antonio walked in.
"No need to go out. He confessed." Antonio spoke. "Everything adds up." He added.
"That was easier than expected." Ashley smiled to him before going off to start work.
