Draken's POV
I wake up and it's still dark out. How much time has passed? I feel a weight on my chest and tilt my head down as much as I can to see Mikey still there, just snoozing away. I'm glad he was able to calm down a little from earlier and get some rest.
"Oh, Mikey.." I breathe, running my hand through his messy hair. It's been so long since I've felt his hair. It's so soft to the touch. Growing up, he could never figure out how to style his hair so that always left me to fix it for him since I was the only one who could do it properly. Once we hit about 17 or so, he finally learned to do his own hair and no longer let me mess with it for him. I never knew why he made me stop but I just chalked it up to us almost being adults and he still having his best friend do his hair just wasn't cool. Mikey has always been so dependent on me growing up, it's still odd to this day when he does things on his own and they no longer involve me. That's just part of us growing up, I guess.
I shut my eyes and try my hardest to stop thinking so many things. Eventually, I'm overcome again with that wave of darkness and I'm back out.

"Good morning, sir. I can help you sit up if you would like some breakfast?" A gentle voice wakes me up.
I open my eyes to see the same nurse from last night in front of my bed with a tray. I look down and Mikey is no longer in my bed with me. I wonder where he went? I don't see him in his cot either.
I give her a nod and nurse walks over to the side of the bed and gently puts and arm around my shoulders,"Here, hold my hand so we can sit you up." She insists and I follow through. She starts moving me up and I can feel the throbbing pain in my lower back.
"God...dammit..." I mumble through my gritted teeth.
"Sorry, sorry. You're doing good." She reassures me as we both hear the door shut.
"You're hurting him." I hear Mikey's frantic voice and he sets his snacks down by the sink in the room and rushing to my side.
"Can't you see he's in pain? You need to be gentle." I hear a bit of sourness to his tone and he snaps at the nurse.
"Oh- I uh-"
"Mikey, enough. I'm going to hurt sitting up regardless." I snap back, knowing he's only being rude to her because he assumes she's causing my pain. She's only helping but Mikey wouldn't dare see it that way. "Just let her do her job."
Mikey scoffs, surprisingly not choosing to fight back, and places some pillows behind my back to keep me propped up and in less pain.
"There you are, sir. You did a good job, I'll let you eat since you're finally awake and I'll come back later to check your vitals." The nurse says giving Mikey and I a sympathetic smile, before walking out the room.
Mikey walks over to move the tray closer to me and uncovers my breakfast. I hadn't realized how hungry I was until seeing this food just now. Then again, I was out a couple days so my body has basically been running off fluids.
He opens my utensils for me and sets them up. I'm not used to Mikey taking care of me, it's always been vice versa. He seems so unsure of himself while doing these small tasks, almost as if he's afraid of doing something wrong.
"Ken-chin, I'm sorry you're hurting, I wish it could've been me instead." He says in a sad tone, regret in his voice.
"Mikey, there was nothing... you could've done. We couldn't have pre..dicted this to happen." I explain, wincing as a speak. God, this pain is so much worse than before. Even breathing in air too fast as I speak causes sharp pains down my lower back.
