always been you (Mikey x Draken)

chapter 5

Draken's POV

"Just be safe, Draken. I'm going to head home." Chifuyu gets up from the kitchen table, he ended up making us Gyoza for dinner. He's a pretty good cook if I had to admit. He helps me put away dishes and I walked him to the door and he leaves.

"Dammit Mikey.." I say under my breath, running my hands through my hair. I haven't even bothered to put it up, it seems pointless.

To Mikey: Hey, when you get this, I need you to come by. Please, Mikey just this once.

I stare at my phone for what seems like hours, waiting for a reply but to no avail. He's gone, I just know from now on, any of our meetings, it'll be him and Sanzu. Not once in our lives has he not been at my side. Like I've said, since we're adults now, he makes all his own decisions and does a lot of things on his own but- It never changed, he would always make time almost everyday to pop by. Rather to just see me, talk to me for a sec, or stay the night. He always chose me, and I took that for granted. I'll figure out if this is really the case if he doesn't see me tomorrow.

*knock knock*

I wake up on the couch. I must've fallen asleep here
My heart starts beating. Oh my god, Mikey?

I quickly get off the couch, my body aching as I rush to the door in a panic but... it's Hina and Takemichi. Oh.

I notice they can both my drop in expression and both give their sympathetic smiles,"Sorry, it's not who you were hoping for. Chifuyu kinda.. informed us on things." Hina explins as I let them inside.

"We wanted to check on you, Draken.." Hina sounds concerned, I open the door fully and let him walk inside.

"Mikey will come around, it's only been a day, it's probably all just a big misunderstanding, the Mikey I know-"

"The Mikey you knew has been fading and fading with time and I finally pushed the last button!" I interrupt Takemichi. "You always try to see the bright side of things. I know Mikey more than anyone, I've spent half my life protecting him and having him to my side...."

They both are looking to the ground, I know they came over just to help cheer me up but I can't stop dwelling on these small words from Sanzu.

Mikey was in his bed. Had a 'wild' night. He goes to Sanzu when I reject him or days he feels sad about mine and his relationship going nowhere. The way it sounded, Mikey had done this with other people and I never knew. In meetings, yeah Sanzu clings to Mikey side but you could never guess they were that close. I've never seen Mikey close with anyone but me. Mikey's just using people to fill the void that I never did.

We chat for a while, they actually did manage to cheer me up some by taking my mind off Mikey and telling me about different stories. Takemichi and Hina have been together since the time I first met Takemichi, it's been so nice to see them grow up together and nothing has changed between them. They need each other, kinda like how Mikey and I need each other.

While we're talking, Hina gets off the love seat from beside him to come sit on the couch next to me,"Draken, get on the floor in front me." She demands with a smile, taking the small braid out from her hair.

I raise an eyebrow to her,"I- What?" I can't seem to form words. Takemichi?? What's going on?

"Draken, cmon, I gotta fix your hair but you're so tall, just get in the floor." Oh.
