"I often wonder if you think
of me like I think of you."It's been days since Summer saw Hunter. Since she may had lost the only person that tried to looked at her for more like the monster everyone thought she was. Waiting for something without knowing it's worth it's some kind of self harm.
Every peace of your soul and heart is waiting, your brain can't work for anything then to think about that one exact moment of loss. She knew what losing felt like. She even saw it. And Summer Delaware may be the only one that knew the truth.
Her days went by writing and drawing, but she kept the same thing in her brain - 'what necklace?'. It burned her alive that she haven't heard for some sort of gold or silver small thing in any of their family books.
In the meanwhile Hunter took most of his time reading. That diary had things that he never imagined to see. Drawings for some kind of diamond, names of death people and so much more.
"What are you reading the last few days Hun?" His grandma called him like this since he was a baby. For her he was her whole life. Her morning sun and night storm. Hunter's parents went missing when he was only seven years old. And the only thing they left him was to coordinates for some necklace.
As the years went by he felt like he was wasting his time. By the age he was he should be thinking for a family, at least this is what his grandma always said. Hunter was a calm child, his only friend killed himself when he was sixteen and for Hunter that was a loss even bigger than his parents. But he managed it staying by his grandma's side.
Lilith on the other hand took a great care for her grandson. She knew what his mission was and she was sad about it. Always wishing for him to live his life, Lilith saw how serious he took his father's work. Even thought she didn't like Robert that much, Hunter was nothing like him.
"It's Delaware's diary." He closed slowly the last page of the book and placed it on the desk. The things he read was hard to swallow. The rumors that had been going for centuries were not true and he felt guilty for judging her.
"You still on that puzzle, aren't you?" She patted his back. He was her everything and the things that been happening was hurting her. She wanted this whole thing as done as he wanted it.
"I made breakfast, why don't you get some and see how the girl is doing?" Unusual Lilith was neutral for Summer. She didn't judge by the rumors but it was something else Hunter could feel it. She had always talked positive for Delaware's family unlike his father. In all his writings he always said that the monster under the bed is that family.
"That's a good idea, ma." He let a kiss on her cheek and left straight for the kitchen. While packing some breakfast he watched outside the window, and more exact he was looking at the bird on the outside the window. What a small creature, right? Only if we could hear what it had to say.
He left for her house. The smile on his face could say he had a clue and actually a lot to talk about. It was strange that he didn't see the monster that everybody else saw.
Just like his grandma.
He had just entered the front door when he saw Summer sitting in a not so big garden writing something in her notebook. Hunter didn't want to scary her so he peacefully waited for her to see him. She looks just like the sun. His thoughts got all over him again. Aside from reading the other thing he did was thinking how such a calm soul could be made up like a monster.
"Oh you're back?" She said with a smirk. He actually liked the way she had some attitude. It made him feel safe around her. It made him feel like a child under the sun.
"You had back thoughts about it?" He said on her left on some big chair. Hunter wanted to know so bad what she was writing but he gave her space. He knew that it would be hard to win her trust.
Summer put her hair on a down ponytail as she ignored his answer. She was still drawing that diamond but each time she got it more detailed. It was like a flashback in her head.
"Does this look familiar to you?" This time she asked him something. And she caught him stunned by that. As he leaned to look close she could smell the perfume on his neck. That familiar smell. She breathed deep in his neck and that made him shiver. The strange thing was neither of them was moving and neither of them was looking at the drawing.
As the seconds passed by he actually took a look and it got him. "I have seen this somewhere." He took a fast walk to the inside the house leaving her with his smell. He grabbed the photo on the desk in the library and gave it to Summer.
At first she didn't knew where to look at until she saw it. It was on her neck. That exact diamond was on her neck with a small silver chain on her childish white neck. Her white dress made it look out even more.
"Oh. I- I don't remember that one." She said her voice shaking. The heart inside her chest started beating faster and it made her even more stressed. "Wait-" He left the painting. Grabbing her hand he pulls her to the hall with the exact same photo just bigger.
"There is no necklace." He stated.
Her eyes widen. She had been living here for almost 12 years and still haven't seen this difference. Summer was scared. It's unusual thing for her but when she felt it, it makes her go insane.
Right when she felt like falling to the floor she felt a strong man's hands hugging her. She smell again the scent and felt the warm hug that came from him. Even though she knew that he is going to be gone soon she let herself, her inner innocent self have the warm hug from someone.
She trusted him.
Even though she didn't want to admit it.
And he trusted her.
Even though he didn't want to do it.
