As Fiona, Henry and Lili are set to graduate, though another year for myself, Pauline and Harold. Henry had asked Lili to move in with him in London, sharing a flat in Covent Garden as they both further their career path. Lili initially thought that it was too fast until taking a vacation and met more kinds of men which made her appreciate what she already has. Therefore accepting Henry's offer of having a love nest together.
During Lili and Fiona's post-graduate holiday, just the two of them without a male company. Lili has met more men from drunk to sober. They later came to visit me in New York City, where I'd spend another few years of dual journalism degree in Columbia.
They had gone to bars and clubs in Lille, the true origins of Fiona, before her parents and herself became Parisians. In one bar, they met thirty something year old lawyers. Lili and Fiona got in the flirting game.
Matter of fact, Fiona's Irish first name despite not being Irish, is a good conversation piece and a good ice breaker - after all she was born in Dublin, Ireland, but her family nickname is mignonette. They played two truths and a lie with two lawyers named Olivier and François. Olivier and Lili both share the same interests in EU law, and kept inviting her to go to attend his lectures and even apply to the university he teaches. François is rather more playful, and Fiona was enjoying the moment.
As Fiona and Lili returned to the flat owned by Fiona's parents, they were giggling after enjoying the male attention they received.
'Is it to fast for me to move in with Henry?'
Fiona sighed, 'if you're having doubts then let him know.'
'I tried, but he always would be convincing me and I let him convince me anyway.'
'Because you're still in love with him, and that's good. Doubting is just normal as you both enter in to a new chapter of the relationship.' Fiona gave her a smile of reassurance.
'I think you're right. Though I couldn't help think sometimes that I'm missing out on other things. New dates. Living alone.'
'Sometimes those many new dates are not worth having when you already have found the man worth dating over and over again. Take it from my experience,' Fioina sounded as if she was starting to feel jaded but that is life.
'You're right. Just like tonight. I found Olivier to be too optimistic that it is annoying. It just made me appreciate Henry.'
New York City wasn't any different also, in fact a little more weary. In the city they met some of my friends, who are none at all interested on dating - just fun and more fun, until they feel jaded enough that they will settle down with just about anyone willing.
Once the women returned to England, they have sorted their own flats. Fiona also moved to London to do further studies in biochemistry in Imperial College, and lives in Russell Square, just twenty minutes fast walk away from the lovebirds.
Henry have set up the lovenest, and gave Lili a generous space of a wardrobe. Their flat belongs to one of the portfolios of the family equity business. It has a his and her was basin, a walk in wardrobe towards the bath tub and the steam and rainfall shower.
'Hey this looks,' Lili was surprised with how Henry and his interior designer have furnished the flat. 'I like it,' the shelves have their favourite books and some of which are classics. The dining table made from fine hardwood matched with dining chairs, and next to it is the living room with a modest sized television and beige sofas. A door next to it is a sitting room, cozier than the living room, fit for entertaining their intimate group of friends. The bedrooms are on the first floor, a masters bedroom and a spare bedroom.
'It's really beautiful, well-designed and ultra comfortable, thank you.' She gave him a loving stare as that will be their home for as long as they last.
'How was your holiday with Fiona?' As they settled down in the living room, over looking the streets of Covent Garden.
'It was lovely to have a breather before all this career takes off, and have a space from you before moving in.'
Henry nodded as he listened to her.
'And?' It is as though Henry wanted more information, which is normal.
'Being away for over a month from you, made me appreciate you more.' Lili leaned on Henry's chest. 'Met many not really worth my time kind of men, and realised I have it good with you. Going back to London without needing to crash in Mark's flat or booking a hotel. But literally going back to a place to call home.'
'I'm glad you feel this way,' he let out a heavy sigh.
'What's wrong?'
'Lili, I hope you don't feel we are moving things too fast. I do want to move things forward, eventually.'
She smiled at him and nodded.
'Not too fast. Let's enjoy what we have, without needing to forge its speed.' She looked at him as if she was begging for things to move slower with them, even when most women would dream of this and to move things forward faster.
'Yes, don't worry babe.' He kissed her forehead as they enjoyed partially laying down on the sofa with his head rested on his chest, and they both enjoyed the comfortable silence.
