The Introduction of the Cy-Rangers

Finally! Some Good Luck At Last!

"Come on, guys," Cy-Toad said to her new team, which was Pluto, Fifi and Figaro. "Cheer up."

Though none of the pets made any of their usual noises to moan, groan or whine, she could tell on their glum faces that they did. They spent the whole day looking and sniffing for more clues, looking for their owners and more monsters like the golems, but they failed. All they achieved today – this was more Pluto's doing, really – was smell something and follow it to a house which had garbage cans with plenty of overflowing meat that could feed an entire army and got chased by Butch the Bulldog before he could take a lick from it. But a good thing came out of that incident; while Pluto got chased by Butch, it gave Cy-Toad, Fifi and Figaro enough time to take the meat from the garbage cans to cook them for herself and her new team. She didn't view it as stealing because there was nothing wrong with the meat because they were still in date and even unopened from their packages and the owners that threw them out mustn't have wanted them, otherwise they wouldn't have thrown them out in the first place. She viewed letting it rot in a landfill even worse.

"I know today has been tough and we didn't have much success," Cy-Toad continued, as she cooked some of the meat – which was some chicken pieces and sausages - on a fire spit above a small fire in the small cave they were in. "But don't worry. I promise we'll find these golems and more of the Earth monsters and their leader the sorceress Bonnie and then we'll find your owners and then we'll save the world. But we won't be able to do any of that if we give up now. So, are you with me or not?"

The pets didn't seem too motivated.

"If you don't want to do this to save the world or get free delicious food, how about doing it to find and save your beloved owners?" Cy-Toad was pleased to see that motivated the pets and made them more determined. "Then let's fill our tummies, get a good night sleep and see what we can find tomorrow," she said, as she served put their rations on the rocks nearby to each of the pets and she ate her share.

Then Fifi looked ahead and started to growl. Pluto joined her. Figaro didn't hiss, but he prepared himself for whatever was coming towards them. Cy-Toad looked ahead at the entrance of the cave ahead of them and tried to see what Pluto and Fifi were growling at. She couldn't see anything, but she heard a lot of stomping sounds.

"It's the golems," she whispered to the pets. "Everyone, hide behind one of the rocks and stay hidden until I say otherwise." Her metal arm turned into a water pistol and put the fire out before it went back to her metal arm again. Then she hid behind the rocks as they waited for these golems to appear, which two of them did. It wasn't just them; there were giant trees with two arms, two legs, two eyes and a mouth and there were also creatures that looked like a pile of grasses that could move on its own, again with two arms, two legs, two eyes and a mouth each.

"Those grass monsters and tree warriors are more of Brenda's Earth Army," Cy-Toad whispered to the pets. "Keep quiet."

Then there was a sound. It sounded like a rock fell. Cy-Toad turned to see a rock did fall and it was behind Pluto. All the yellow dog could do was sheepishly grin at Cy-Toad, who could only give him a glare back.

"What was there?"

"It came from the cave."

"Well, let's go and check it out."

Cy-Toad peeped over the rock she was hiding ever so slightly and saw that the monsters of the Earth Army was entering the cave. "Keep still and stay quiet," she whispered to the pets.

They all continued to hide behind the rocks as the monsters continue to search through the cave.

"I see ash in here," said one of the monsters, "but it feels wet and unwarm. I can't work out how long how it was whoever had this fire left this cave."
