"I get it... you live in the garden of Eden." She chuckled "You do remember there was an evil snake living there too?" Cal asked as Recke sat down on the bed. He clicked his tongue and watched her carefully without saying a word. "What's wrong, don't have religion anymore?"
"Religion is in charge, and they make the rules." He started playing with her nicknacks on the nightstand. "You obey the rules of living or you don't jump."
"You worship the law?" Cal laughed "That's dangerous."
"No," he was wishing she would change the subject "Religion took over the law when the law played fuck around and find out with the timeline."
"And now everyone is trying to glue the vase back together that you busted by playing ball in the house." Cal smiled at his confused expression "Fuck around and find out is an old saying... so I used an old TV show reference."
"That's something that is deemed unnecessary... entertainment." He laughed "But we do have things like that we can find on the black market."
"Your black market is old tv shows and crap..." She laughed "Our black market is mostly weapons and..."
"Those are legal and easy to find... so we have less need to get them illegally."
"Right..." she quickly showered and tried for a slightly different subject when she climbed out "We can stream a show if you want..." She came back in wearing nothing but a towel "What, how did you..." he was seated on her bed, clean to and wearing new clothes.
"Your primitive mind wouldn't understand." He smirked and sat down the figurine he had just scanned into his personal database. While she showered, he had tried to scan as many of them as possible, it would make him money in the crowd that liked to trade the illegal goods, it would go a long way to pay off the fines he gets for angering the aforementioned religious leaders.
"I thought we were past that?" She folded her arms pouting. "The name calling and rudeness."
He ignored her comment and continued, the last figurine was Native American, he was now wondering if she knew anyone with Native American genetics in them. "Tell me more about your family," his eyes were locked on something he was fidgeting with an odd square cube she hadn't seen before.
"That must be the backup com you referred to." He nodded, then looked down at his cube waiting for the answer to his request "Yeah, my family... they are what you'd call Native American."
His eyes snapped up to look at her. "What," he leaned forward on the bed resting his elbows on his knees "They have no European or Asian DNA in them?"
She laughed "No, they are pure Native American... why?" she noticed her figurines were all moved, not by much by they had all been played with.
"Sleep on it, remember I need to follow rules..." he was nervous now "I need to make a call." He headed for the door.
"You're going to use the phone or what?" His posture and tone had changed and that made her nervous, he was keeping secret about something.
"Or what" he held up the cube and left the room. He found a quiet corner of the house and clicked the com on.
"Did you really just lead her to believe that cube was the com?" Tahk was annoyed "And why did you use up that much energy to clean yourself, the figurine storage I get... but the clean setting?"
