"What do you have against Sophie? You've been rude from the start," Fitz accused, continuing our conversation from the previous day. I laughed mirthlessly.

"Why do you like Sophie so much? You just met her."

"I'm not saying I like her," Fitz argued, "but at least I'm not being rude."

"Rude how? And the blush on your face says otherwise,"

"Shut up, Y/N! You're making this ten times more difficult than it needs to be! You've been angry with everyone except Biana ever since we got back last time. I don't know what your problem is, but I'm trying to help!" he shouted.

"You're doing a great job of it," I replied sarcastically.

"Y/N! Do you want to figure this out or not?" I paused.

"Don't act like I'm the only one at fault here Fitz. All you have done since Sophie came into your life, which was only one day ago, was talk about her non-stop."

"Arrest me."

"Gladly." I raised my hands and flicked my wrist slightly, controlling the shadows in the room. They twisted and swirled in his direction, binding his wrists and feet. Fitz yelped and writhed around on the floor like a lunatic, trying, unsuccessfully, to get free. "You asked," I reminded him.

"Now that you've got that out of your system," he groaned, his face partially mashed into the floor, "are you ready to talk?" The shadows retreated and I leaned against the wall.

"Sure. Why not."

"You're impossible."

"I pride myself on that, thank you."

"Listen. I'm sorry I ignored you too much, okay?" I sighed.

"Whatever. Apology accepted. I guess I was a little bit harsh."

"A little?"

"Don't push your luck Fitzy." He grinned.

"You up for one more trip to the Forbidden Cities?" I gasped.

"Really?!"

"We have to pick Sophie up from her house before the washers come." I felt my face darken.

"There are two conditions. One, you have to stop ranting about how absolutely perfect this girl is, and two, you have to give me your mallowmelt for the next week." Fitz frowned.

"Fine. But you have to be nice. She's gonna be really upset, you know, she's leaving her family forever. Try to understand." I nodded.

"It's a deal."

"It's going to be okay, Sophie." Fitz promised, pulling her into his shoulder as she started to sob. I pulled a face as Fitz held her, but managed to hold my end of the bargain and not say anything. The two of us were down on the floor next to Sophie, attempting to comfort her. Needless to say, Fitz was doing a better job than me.

"I drugged my family." Her voice broke.

"You did the right thing," I assured her. I had to admit, I was impressed that she had followed through. It probably wasn't easy.

"It doesn't feel like the right thing," Sophie replied, wiping her face. We stayed silent a moment longer before I stood up.

"I don't want to sound like a jerk, but we have to leave. The washers will be here any second, and they can't find us here."

After a brief powerpoint of what in the world a Washer was and Sophie showing us that she was a very light packer, she said she had forgotten her stuffed animal named Ella. Fitz played the knight in shining armor and ran up the stairs to get it. He returned after a moment with a stuffed blue elephant with a Hawaiian shirt. Sophie blushed, but I wasn't about to make fun of her after what happened the other morning. She clutched the elephant, Ella, and looked determined.
