I pushed open the gate (which was unlocked this time) and let myself into the Vacker's house.
"Hello Y/N," Alden said absentmindedly, looking around for something.
"Hi Alden. Where's Biana and Fitz?"
"Probably upstairs, Sophie and I are about to leave to go to Grady and Edaline's." Sophie waved slightly at me and I waved half-heartedly back. "Ready?" Alden asked. Sophie nodded, and they disappeared in a blink of light.
I turned to go up the stairs and I heard the door open behind me. Keefe practically waltzed inside and smirked when he saw me.
"You're late," I commented.
"Well, by the looks of things, you just got here too."
"I'm still here before you."
"Are you?" His smirk widened.
"Shut up. Alden said Fitz and Biana are upstairs." We climbed up the grand staircase and walked down the familiar hallway. I paused when I heard Fitz's voice through one of the doors.
"It's not fair. I should have been able to go, I literally went to the Forbidden Cites on a mission." I looked over at Keefe and gave him a mischievous grin, which he returned. I swirled my fingers as shadows crept along the floor into the room. After a few seconds, I heard two identical shrieks of terror before Keefe and I burst out laughing.
"Not funny!" Fitz yelled at us as we pushed open the door and continued to laugh like maniacs.
"Who screamed? I couldn't tell the difference," Keefe laughed.
"Shut up," Fitz grumbled, shoving him and blushing furiously.
"Never do that again," Biana breathed, her hand on her heart.
"No promises."
"Y/N, you'll be sorry if-"
"Let's settle this with a game of Basequest," Keefe suggested. "Vackers versus...us," he decided.
"It's on," Fitz agreed.

"You two suck," Biana grumbled as she wiped the dirt off her skirt and pulled a piece of grass from her hair. Keefe and I continued to laugh.
"Do we? Cause it looks like we just kicked your–"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. You're good at Basequest," Fitz interrupted.
"I think you mean great, or astounding," Keefe corrected. I grinned along with him.
"Or magnificent, or fantastic, or–"
"We get it, shut up," Biana said, cutting me off. I crossed my arms and huffed,
"Well, it's not fair that Fitz is so good at telepathy–" I got cut off by the sound of an imparter ringing. The three of us turned to face Keefe as he pulled his imparter out of his pocket. His face fell when he saw who it was from.
"I have to go, my Dad wants me home." Before any of us could protest, he pulled out his home crystal and was gone. I felt my face contort into a frown.
"I hate Cassius," I mumbled, clenching my fists. "More than words can express."
"We all do," Biana said, laying a hand on my shoulder. I gave her a small smile, and Fitz cleared his throat.
"Anyway, my Dad wanted to ask you guys a favor. Since you two have already met Sophie, he wants us all to become friends with her."
"Uh, why?"
