When the bell rang this time, Blaire found herself to be the one already packed up and anxious to leave. She instantly looked at Dillon, who was talking with Josh and Ms. Rivera. He waved her off quickly. After a slight hesitation, she headed to her third hour class, frustrated.
Word of the fight had already spread. The topic people found most interesting was how bad it would have gotten if the police officer hadn't shown up. Blaire couldn't blame them for wondering, she was curious too. After all, Josh already had a black eye, and the boys had barely started.
Throughout her third hour, Blaire was constantly questioned about Dillon. Are you guys really together? Do you seriously think it's going to last? Is it true you were the reason Josh and Dillon got into a fight? How did you like seeing Dillon's bad side? Blaire growled short answers to all of them, getting annoyed. By the time the hour ended, she was ready to pull her hair out. It was crazy how fast word spread here. She thought her old school would have been faster to spread rumors since there was less people, but it wouldn't have been this crazy until a day after there. Willow Tree High sure enjoyed their gossip.
Blaire hurried to her next class, as close to running as possible without actually running. Even though she had been out the door the instant the bell rang, she was still bombarded with questions. Apparently, this was even better gossip than what happened at the party.
"Come here," hissed a voice behind her. She debated on turning around. She was only a few feet away from her door, she could easily make it. But that voice was too familiar. She sighed and forced herself to turn around, following the person in front of her to a small corner that was almost hidden from everybody walking away. Not quite a secretive as below the staircase, but it was close.
"Why can't we talk in front of our class? Everybody already knows," Blaire growled.
"Because I would rather do this somewhere more private." came the response. Before she had time to reply, Blaire felt lips meet hers. She leaned into his body, finding herself in a Dillon-induced bliss. All of her worries and questions and anger slipped away until all she could feel was the overwhelming feelings she felt for him.
"You look stressed," Dillon murmured, pulling his head back to look at her. She just laughed and shook her head.
"Is there any gossip that doesn't get around in less than an hour?" she asked.
"Well, uninteresting gossip doesn't tend to get very far. Like, you know, oh my gosh guys! The janitor cleaned the floors," Dillon answered, mimicking a girl's voice. Blaire found herself giggling in his arms. Suddenly she stepped back and looked at him.
"You okay?" Dillon asked.
"The question we should be asking here is are you okay. I didn't get to see most of it, but it looked like Josh got one good hit in," Blaire slowly drifted off as she realized how lame she sounded. Really, it had been the first fight she had seen, and it was definitely showing. Dillon chuckled and shook his head.
"I'm fine, Blaire. It's just like last time, actually. The only hit he got in was cowardly and not even that bad." With that, Dillon lifted his shirt and showed her his side. There was a small red mark right where Josh had hit him. Dillon was right, it wasn't that bad. From the looks of it, it wasn't even going to bruise.
"Oh," Blaire muttered, embarrassed.
"Thanks for the concern though," he murmured, grabbing her again. The warning bell buzzed as their lips met.
"I swear that thing wants to ruin every moment I have with you," Dillon growled, pulling back. She shook her head and grabbed him.
"One class isn't going to hurt. We have to talk," Blaire said, shocking herself as the words fell out of her mouth. She had never ditched a class. Never. It was something she was proud of. To her relief, he grabbed her hand and pulled her to their class.
