Blaire didn't typically like breakfast foods, but nobody could argue with a free pancake breakfast. Dillon's friend moved them to the top of the seating list once they got there, and they were at a table within five minutes of arriving.

"Is it always this busy?" Blaire asked, breaking the silence between her and Dillon.

"Only in the mornings. The dinner rush doesn't tend to get this bad," Dillon replied, taking a sip of his water.

"So, you missed a test," Blaire said, running out of small talk.

"Did I? Oh well, wouldn't have studied anyways," he said.

"Can't you make it up?"

"Do I look like the person who's going to spend my time making up a test that I'm going to fail anyways?"

"Dillon!"

"What? It's who I am!"

"Whatever. So are you going to tell me what happened between you and Jake or not? The suspense is killing me," Blaire finally asked what she had wanted to since they got there.

"Blaire, I seriously think this is a story you would rather not hear," Dillon warned.

"I want to know!"

"Fine. Well I guess I should start by saying that Jake and I used to be best friends," Dillon muttered.

"No way," Blaire screeched, earning dirty looks from half of the people in the restaurant.

"Yeah. He was the only guy I ever really trusted. My parents live right by him and we grew up together. We had a secret handshake and everything."

"So what happened?"

"Well, we were cool up until two years ago. Then things changed. You see, Jake has a little sister, Jessica. She's a year younger than us, so she would be around your age. I had always seen at her as a little sister. She was just that annoying girl that got everything she wanted. I was like her second brother. She wasn't meaner or nicer to me because I wasn't technically related. Actually, for a while she thought I was literally her brother," Dillon said. His story was cut off by his friend dropping off the pancakes.

"So what happened?" Blaire asked again, ignoring the food.

"Puberty happened. I spent the summer before my sophomore year in California, so I didn't get to see Jake or Jess for months. On the first day back, Jake wasn't that much different from last year. Jessica, however, had changed a lot. She had more curves, she wore a little more makeup, and she dressed in a more...revealing manner. She definitely didn't look like a middle-schooler anymore."

"So you didn't want to be the "big brother" anymore?"

"Exactly. I started spending more time talking to her. I called Jake's house when I knew he wasn't home in hopes that she would pick up. I was acting like a completely lovesick teenager. I started to get the feeling that she was into me, so I asked her out," Dillon said.

"Was Jake okay with it?" Blaire whispered.

"Yeah, I asked him first to make sure he wouldn't kill me. He said it was fine, but if I broke her heart I was dead. So Jessica and I went out for a week, which happened to be the week before homecoming. We went to the dance together, and afterwards Jake and Jess had a party at their house."

"Is this going where I think it is?" Blaire murmured, leaning forward. This was probably the best story she had heard from Dillon yet.

"Possibly. Anyways, while at the party, Jessica and I got a little tipsy. We weren't drunk, but our judgement was definitely clouded. So we went up to her room to get away from the party. I made sure she was okay with everything that happened, because even when I was tipsy I knew that was important. We ended up going all the way."
