"Blaire," Callie finally whispered a few moments after Jake walked away. "I'm not going to lie and say I was going to tell you, because I wasn't. It wasn't a huge deal, we were together for three days. We slept together once and then he left me, just like most of his relationships. I didn't know if you'd freak out but..."
"Callie!" Blaire interrupted quickly.
"What?"
"It's fine! I guess I already had a feeling that you guys had been together. And besides, I really don't care who he dated before as long as I'm the only one now."
"Really?"
"Really. Now quit freaking out. I'm not going to let Jake ruin another day this weekend," Blaire instructed. Callie settled down and leaned back on her elbows, tilting her chin up. The two stayed at the park for a little while longer before Blaire checked her phone.
"We better go. My mom is going to kill me if I'm late, especially now," Blaire muttered. The two walked back to her house, where Callie got into her car and drove away. After taking a deep breath, Blaire stepped through her door, instantly breathing out a sigh of relief when she saw her mom wasn't anywhere in sight. Blaire grabbed a glass of water from the kitchen before heading up to her room.
"Mom! What are you doing?" Blaire screamed, watching her mom tear through her drawers in her dresser.
"I know you're hiding something, and I'm going to find it. What is it? Drugs? Alcohol?" her mom growled, not even looking up.
"Have you gone insane?" Blaire screeched.
"Have you? Blaire, it's a week into school and you're failing two classes!"
"How would you know that?"
"There's a website where I can see your grades. You haven't turned anything into two of your classes, and now you have a zero percent 'F' in them! What's going on?" her mom finally whipped around and faced her.
"I told you Colorado is distracting! But listen, Callie promised the first week is always one of the worst. Just give me a little time. Those grades will be back up in no time," Blaire reasoned, watching the fire in her mom's eyes die down.
"They better be up by next weekend, or you're grounded," her mom warned.
"They will be," Blaire promised. Her mom nodded and started putting her room back together. Blaire helped her, hoping that now her mom was calm enough to talk about what Blaire really wanted to.
"Hey, Mom?"
"Yes?"
"I'm not going to lie, Dillon has a bad reputation," Blaire started. Her mom opened her mouth to interrupt, only to be stopped by a glare from Blaire. "Just listen for a second, okay? I know getting into a relationship with him isn't a wonderful idea. But he is really trying for this, and I was wondering if you could try to get along with him."
"Blaire, he isn't the kind of boy I want you dating."
"I know, but he isn't as bad as you think. And I'm not stupid, I'm not expecting a ton out of this relationship. I'm just asking for your support while this lasts. Have I ever given you a reason to doubt me?"
"I guess not."
"Exactly. Come on, Mom. What do you say? I know he's willing to start over if you are," Blaire said. Her mom hesitated before letting out a defeated sigh.
"Fine. But he better not hurt you," she warned.
"Don't worry, I won't let him. Like I said, my expectations aren't great. So, we're having dinner with your boss?" Blaire moved on before her mom could change her mind.
