Another day and another lesson with Blu. Pleased with the work Petra had done with controlling objects he decided to try and teach her to use the Solar cosmos, making things appear and disappear. Although she still had a lot to learn about Stellar casting, Blu felt it was time to try something different.
Petra sat opposite Blu in their usual spot in the woods while Ruby sat a few feet away, with Sikle curled up by her feet, reading Kammie's notebook.
"This casting is a little different. With the Stellar casting, you had to do what you felt to control things. Now to summon them you must do certain actions. We'll start simple again and build it up, okay?" Blu explained, removing his cloak and placing it to one side, revealing the baggy black shirt underneath.
"Yeah, I'm ready." Petra threw a few quick nods in Blu's direction.
"Watch carefully. I want you to try and summon a tropiberry." Blu placed his palms together like he was praying, closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He then swivelled his right palm and placed his hands horizontally in front of his stomach, keeping his palms firmly pressed together. He then slowly lifted his top hand upwards and revealed a juicy looking tropiberry in his left palm. "You think you can do that?"
Petra nodded and readied herself. She tried to centre herself with the cosmos and nodded at Blu when she was ready to try.
"Okay take a deep breath, hands together, close your eyes and imagine the tropiberry in your hand. Now turn your hands. No not like that," Petra tried to copy his instructions but when it got to the turn your hands bit, she just couldn't get it right. She turned them the wrong way, too far, not far enough. The ever-patient Blu just continued to show her again and again, praising the slight improvements she made between each try.
"May I?" Blu asked holding out his hands.
"Yeah." Petra sighed, and Blu grabbed her hands and tried to show her how to exactly manoeuvre her hands to complete the cast. He went over it a few times before letting go and allowing Petra to try by herself.
"That's it! Are your ready to try using your powers?" Blu asked
"I think so" Petra nodded as she picked up her water bottle. She took a quick swing and prepared herself.
Taking a deep breath, she visualised the tropiberry in her hands and managed to do the correct movements. Exactly how she should. But he couldn't feel anything in her hand. She looked down after she raised her hand, and nothing was there.
"Did I do it wrong again?" She was sure she had done it right.
"No, you did it right," Blu eyebrows knitted together. "Try again"
Petra repeated her actions, still nothing.
"I thought something like this might happen." Petra looked at Blu confused. "I think we need to go and see Harper."
"Harper?" Petra questioned, tilting her head to the side slightly.
