"Eurgh," Petra groaned, flinging Kammie's research across her bedroom.
"Are you ok?" Ruby asked peering over the top of her book at Petra.
"I just can't figure it out. I've been staring at this notebook ever since I found it a week ago and it still doesn't make sense." Petra rose from her position on the bed and retrieved the book. "Maybe I should show the others." Petra sighed while Ruby's eyes lit up, she had been giving subtle hints that she should try and get Kai, Three and Hendry to help as they knew more about their written language than they ever would. But knowing Petra's stubbornness she could never just tell her too. So subtle is the way she went and luckily enough she picked up and decided to bring it with them on that afternoon's trip to Silva Hollow.
Rain pelted the twins as soon as they stepped foot into Silva Hollow that afternoon. Pale pink puddles forming on the ground. Petra pulled her hood further over her head to stop the never-ending splashes hitting her face.
No-one was out today. The paths normally full of people were deserted and as the reached further out of the town and nearer Hendry's they felt like they were the only people in the world.
A sound of familiar laughter and scolding hit their ears as they rounded the last corner and reached the cabin.
The twins quickly took shelter under the porch and shook off all the unwanted water clinging to them. Hearing the scuffles outside, Hendry poked his head out of the door. He looked the girls up and down before shouting, "Kai get the girls some clothes."
"Come in, I've just put some tea on." Hendry said turning back towards the girls. Petra and Ruby slipped off their soaked shoes and took some cautious steps inside, trying not to slip on the wet floor underneath them.
"Hey!" Kai greeted them as soon as they crossed the threshold. He directed them towards a door at the back of the cabin. They mumbled quick greetings to Three and Marnie who were both sprawled out on the sofas, playing some kind of intense card game.
On the bed, two tunics and two pairs of trousers were laid out for the twins. They dried themselves off with the available towels and some help from Petra removing as much of the water as she could with her powers and changed into the dry clothes. The normal tight-fitting clothes on Hendry, swallowed them both. Petra pulled up the bottoms so she didn't trip over on the way back out.
As soon as she plopped herself onto the sofa next to Kai, Petra had a cup of tea thrust into her hands. She blew on the hot drink and looked over the room. It was rare they were sat in the cabin., normally choosing to surround he fire pit. The last time she remembers being in here was after the fight she got her powers. Her head was too woozy to take in the surroundings then.
It was dark, clean and minimal. Everything in there seemed to have a place. Cups were neatly stacked by the stove. A box full of all the different types of tea was neatly placed on the countertop. The walls were mainly bare, other than a few shelves and a drawn map of somewhere called Alcantia. The two sofas were arranged around a huge brick fireplace that had the twin's clothes hung around to dry.
"I win," Marnie announced to a pouting Three as their card game came to an end. Petra chuckled and took a sip of tea.
