The Game

2nd Mission

"Alright, is everybody here?" Matt looks around the table and does a quick head count before diving into the mission game plan for today. "Okay so, some things have changed from our meeting yesterday, let's get started."

After an hour of explaining the plan, we all gather our things to leave Skinker and head out into the "Real World".

"Natalie," Myles comes over to me and hands me a set of keys, "these are your keys to the Jetta and Amilia," Myles tosses Amilia a set of keys and she snatches them out of the air, "those are your keys to the motorcycle parked in the back of the van."

"Thank you," Amilia says and slides the keys into her pocket. Once the keys are all settled into the right hands, Matt looks over at Amilia.

"Amilia, will you hand out the earpieces and make sure everyone can hear each other? We will do a final check once we are in the field," Matt says as Amilia opens the black container in front of her. 

"Here are your earpieces," Amilia says, all business, as she hands out the earpieces to all of us. We all take our time putting them in properly. Tom struggles so I help him out and he gives me a little smile of appreciation. "These are wireless earpieces, high tech, the transmitters with microphones in the bracelets each of you have..." Amilia pauses while Tom frantically grabs all the bracelets and hands them out to everyone.

"Sorry," Tom says sheepishly as well all slide the slim black bracelets onto our wrists.

"These will all be connected to the GSM Box we built, so hopefully it works well. And that box will remain in the van set up for most missions," Amilia continues when we've all settled down again. "Does everyone remember how they work?" Amilia asks to clarify since we all had classes that trained us in most spy tech. Our team members all nod in agreement/acknowledgment, confirming.

"Let's do a sound check," Matt says when Amilia is done getting our communication set up. "Weapons?"

"Check," Cassidy says first.

"Check," Jamison says, and the two nod at each other having agreed on who answers first. 

"Vehicle Ops?" Matt moves down the list.

"Check," Myles taps his earpiece further into his ear and shakes his head a bit then smiles and nods his head when the earpiece doesn't move. "Nice."

"Tech?"

"Check," Tom's voice comes through my earpiece with a squeak and I see his cheeks turning a bit red so I know that the squeak wasn't technology related. 

"Communications?" Matt moves on.

"Check," Amilia's accent flows out of the earpiece smoothly.

"Chameleon," Matt looks over at me.

"Check," I say and Matt nods, confirming he heard me. 

"Medic?" Matt finishes off the list.

"Check," Theran's deep accent rumbles in my ear, not unpleasantly. "Team Leader?" Theran says when it's confirmed we can all hear him.

"Check," Matt says. "Okay, everyone set with the plan?" We all nod and no one says anything so Matt proceeds. "Alright, Tom's all set up here. Van people load up. Natalie, do you have directions?"

"Correct," I nod in acknowledgment as well then Matt looks around the room.

"Alright, let's head out." 

The team exits the conference room together and the van group heads out. I look over at Tom and he gives me a nod, I nod back and then follow the rest of the team out, shutting the door behind me.
