The Game

1st Mission

"You excited for our first mission tomorrow?" Matt says when I come back into our room to get into bed. 

"Excited?" I ask, rubbing lotion on my arms. I've already gotten changed into my pajamas, just a t-shirt, and old pajama shorts. "I wouldn't say excited but I do believe I am ready."

"Oh, you 'do believe'? What century are you from?" Matt teases me, coming over to my side of the room. I turn to face him and he looks me up and down, I narrow my eyes at him. He backs up when he sees my face but continues smiling at me. "I'm a great leader, don't you think?"

"You're doing alright," I admit and he smirks in return. "I've had better."

Matt lets out a chuckle but he must see I am not in the mood for any more flirty banter because he walks back to his side of the room without bothering me further. "That was a good one, but I doubt that."

"Oh okay," I laugh. "Keep telling yourself that." 

Matt chuckles. "Goodnight, Natalie."

"Goodnight, Matt," I say in return then he turns out his light, and my side of the room is highlighted by my bright lamp.

"Jeez, turn that thing off,' Matt complains from his side of the room. I see him pulling a pillow over his face to block out the light.

"Calm down, you big baby," I retort and finish getting ready for bed. After I climb into bed, taking my time, I finally turn off my light. Matt sighs in appreciation. "Mhm, you're welcome," I say across the room and receive a grunt in response.

I snuggle down into my bed, nervous for our first mission tomorrow but a little bit excited to get started with The Game.

8:28:07 am

"Thank you for joining us," Matt says as Tom and I walk into the conference room. I look around and only Myles and Cassidy are in the room. I look back at Matt and he smirks, teasing us. I roll my eyes and take a seat at the table. Tom drops into the seat next to me and his knee starts bouncing. 

"Nervous?" I say softly, looking at him.

"Just a little, is it that noticeable?" I give Tom a look and gesture to his bouncing leg, he stops and gives a weak smile.

"Hey, calm down. It's our first mission, it's not going to be anything we can't handle," I reassure him and he nods, looking a little relaxed but not much. 

A few minutes pass and soon our whole team has arrived and taken a seat around the table. Everyone makes it on time, just slightly before 8:30 am.

"Okay, everyone is here so I'm going to get started," Matt clicks on the screen behind us and there are a few objectives for today's mission. Our first mission," Matt looks around the table, and Myles, Jamison, and Theran all cheer which makes Cassidy and Amilia laugh. 

"So for these objectives, I've paired everyone together and assigned each group tasks to complete. Obviously, if you need help or finish early, everyone is allowed to lend a hand to the other group. We are all still one team."

We all take a few minutes to look over the assignments and familiarize ourselves with them. We also get our tablets back from Tom and he goes over a few new added features, none of which we have to hide because the tablets belong to the school so Tom knew he had to keep it 100% legal and authorized. 

Once we've figured out our "mini missions" and our partnering for the first couple of them, we agree to reconvene midday, after lunch, to meet with our new partners/update the rest of the team on our missions.
