"What does she have that I dont?"I asked.

"Me,"August said.

My mouth dropped as we looked at each other.

"What?I'm just being one hunnid witcha Ma,"August said shrugging his shoulders.

I rubbed the end of my elbows standing there heartbroken and hurt.

August got up as he stood in front of me.

He towered over me as I stood there feeling shorter and heartbroken even more.

"I-I shouldn't of said that,"he said touching my cheek with his hand as I moved.

"You said it now,"I said looking down.

"I'm just mad that's all,"August said as I sniffed.

"Well you can get your shit and go to your woman's house,"I said moving going back upstairs.

August followed behind me.

I couldn't believe his disrespectful ass.But I wouldn't dare try to keep a nigga where he don't wanna be.

I opened our closet door as I sat on the bed and watched him pack.

The man I've been with for damn near nine years is leaving me to be with another woman.

He took his clothes off the hangers as he folded them and sat em in a small suitcase.

How was I suppose to tell Mel about the permanent split?

I got up as I left out of the room and went back downstairs.

I sniffed as I wiped my tears from my cheeks.

It hurt like hell knowing I'd had to get back out there in the world and find me a man that'll accept me and my son.

I swallowed a sip of my wine I had fixed for myself as I curled up on the couch.

I watched television as I took more sips of my wine.

I could here August's grunts as he carried his suitcase down.

I didn't dare look back.

The front door opened as he went out of it.

For the next ten minutes he was in and out putting his stuff in his car as I swallowed the last of my wine.

The house got quiet as he walked half way in the living room.

"I'll come back another day and get anything that's left. The house key on da kitchen counta,"he said as I never looked back.

He sighed as he walked out and closed the front door behind him.

I got off the couch as I ran to the window seeing him pull off and down the street.

"And just like that.....he was gone. "
