Chapter 8 : Diagon Alley
Y/n- "Okay, so I need an owl, cat or toad, books, robes. Oh and a wand." You read off the list. "Where are we going to find all this? And how do I pay for it?" You look up at Hagrid.
Hagrid- "Don't worry we'll find everything. But first we gotta go to Gringotts."
Y/n- "Gringotts?" You ask.
Hagrid- "The wizarding bank."
Y/n- "Oh okay." You continue walking until you reach Gringotts. You go inside.
Y/n- "Woah, what are those thing's?" You ask looking at the goblins.
Hagrid- "Those are goblins. An' don't call them 'things' it make them mad." You have a slightly surprised expression on your face.
Y/n- "Got it." Hagrid walks you over to one of the goblins sitting behind a desk.
Hagrid- "Hello." The goblin looks up.
Hagrid- "Miss Y/n Darkwood here would like to make a withdrawal." Hagrid looks at you. The goblin looks at you.
Goblin- "I see, and does Miss Y/n Darkwood have a key?" He asks in very dreary and boring voice.
Y/n- In mind : Does it look like I have a key?
Hagrid- "I've got it right here." He pulls out a gold key and hands it to the goblin. The goblin nods and gets up.
Goblin- "Follow me." You and Hagrid follow the Goblin to a mine cart and get in. The cart starts moving.
Y/n- In mind : Are we underground? I think we are. There's dirt everywhere.
After a few minutes the cart comes to a stop they all get out and walk towards a vault, the goblin opens it.
Y/n- "Woah! That's a lot of coins."
Hagrid- "The gold ones are galleons, the silver ones are sickels and the bronze ones are knuts. And they're all yours." He smiled, your mouth dropped open. Hagrid laughs.
Hagrid- "Didn't think ye mother left ye with nothin did ya?" He grabs a few hand fulls and puts them in a bag. "That should be enough. Come on let's go get your wand."
You follow him out, the goblin closes the vault and locks it. He hands Hagrid the key.
Y/n- In mind : Woah, my mother was rich. But why? I wonder what she her job was. They leave Gringotts and start walking towards Ollivanders.
A few minutes later reach Ollivanders. You both go inside.
Ollivander- "Ah Hagrid, it's good to see you."
Hagrid- "Hello there Ollivander."
Ollivander- "And who might you be?" He looks at you.
Y/n- "Oh, hi. I'm Y/n Darkwood." His eyes go wide, you get a bit uncomfortable.
Ollivander- "Darkwood? M/n Darkwood?" You nod.
Y/n-"Yeah." You glance at the floor for a second before looking back up.
Hagrid- "Y/n here needs a wand."
Ollivander- "Oh, yes of course." He goes over to the shelves and takes a box and opens it.
Ollivander- "This is an aspen wood wand." He hands it to you. "Give it a wave."
You wave the wand and make a few boxes explode.
Y/n- "I'm sorry." You quickly put the wand down.
Ollivander- "Not to worry. That wand simply didn't choose you." You look at him confused.
Y/n- "Choose me?" You ask.
Ollivander- "Oh yes, you don't choose the wand. The wand chooses you." He hands you another wand.
Ollivander- "Here, try this one. It's made with cypress wood." You take the wand and wave it, the tip glows and a sort of golden light surrounds you.
You wave it again and the light disappears. You smile, Hagrid looks at you and smiles.
Ollivander- "There, that is your wand.
Y/n- "Thank you." You smile and then you and Hagrid leave. You get the rest of your things and Hagrid takes you home.
You say goodbye and go inside, it's 5:00pm and your father is still at work so you get started on dinner, you just put the garlic bread in the oven when there's a knock on the door, you go to open the door.
Y/n- "Angelica!"
