He guided me towards two big ballroom doors and stopped right in front of them. He turned to face me, his green eyes piercing at me through his mask. "Are you ready?" He asked.I shook my head slightly, "No. Ready for what?"
He gripped the knob tightly before he flung the doors open. "This."
Inside was an elegantly decorated ball room. High ceilings with magnificent crystallized chandeliers hanging, elevated by the contemporary style columns surrounding the ballroom itself. The stage had an orchestra on it, with violins and violas littered everywhere, I think I even saw a harp in the far corner. There were endless tables decorated with black lilies that seemed to be glowing. The room itself seemed to glowing a dark purple hue that just added to the character of it. There was one thing that stood out from the rest though, there was no one in the room.
I turned to look at him, "Is this some kind of joke? Why is there no one here?"
He shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know there are supposed to be people in here, this is where the event has always taken place. No one said anything about it changing rooms to me but I'll go check out the place and see what is going on. Wait right here." He led me over to one of the tables and motioned for me to sit before he crossed the room towards the exit door.
When he reached the door he turned to look at me with a somewhat solemn look on his face. "I just want to say that no matter what, I'll always be there for you. Watching over your shoulder for as long as you live. No matter what happens." With that he walked out the door and it sounded like it locked behind him.
Ok that was weird. What is he going on about?
I decided to find something to do rather than just sit here so I really took in the room. I noticed that all the tables looked to have been occupied by people. Some of the tablecloths had been moved slightly, probably by someone leaning on them, and a few chairs here and there looking to have been pulled out. There even appeared to be champagne in one of the glasses on one of the tables closest to me. I looked closer at the table that I'm at and saw that a few napkins looked like they had been used, one even having red lipstick on it.
Where did everyone go?
I saw a shadow moving out of the corner of my eye catching my attention. I quickly turned my head and saw no one. I could've swore I heard a faint giggle coming from my right but I had to be mistaken. Right? For a split second, it felt like the temperature had dropped drastically but the second I went to rub my arms from the cold, the temperature seemed to go back to normal.
The fuck is going on?
A bright glow emitted from the lily on the table, turning my attention to it. I took a closer look at the petals and noticed that they weren't really black but a deep maroon like purple. The glow around it shined the brightest hue of purple I've ever seen. From what I learned in my botany elective last year, the black lily symbolizes resurrection and rebirth, but they can also symbolize mystery. I don't remember reading anything about a lily that looked like this. I leaned in closer and it seemed to glow brighter. I felt like Aurora from the Sleeping Beauty when she was drawn to touch the spinning wheel as I touched a petal and it felt like it pricked my finger. I quickly pulled back and saw a little drop of blood. I grabbed a napkin that was under a plate and wrapped it around my finger.
Well I know not to touch you again.
I had to be sitting there for at least 25 minutes before curiosity started to take over, let me go and find this man. I stopped bleeding a while ago so I needed to look for a trash can anyway. I glanced around and found one by the door Hoodie went out of. As I stood, a heard a voice whisper in my ear "sit back down if you know what's good for you". I looked quickly behind me but there was no one there.
