We walked out after Liam paid for the drinks and walked down the street. He soon left Mona and me alone to leave to his campus which was the other way while ours was straight ahead. Mona was silent most of the walk back. Cars were passing by her as she walked on the sidewalk edge, so I gently grabbed her arm and pulled her to myself, making sure no cars hit her or scare her. Her body bumped into mine and our arms stayed linked like that the whole walk to the dorm. The other hand was placed on my arm, supporting her to the maximum.
I kind of felt bad for her, she must be pretty hurt since all of this was happening. It was pretty obvious the whole time and I didn't notice until now. She stared up at me for a few moments and looked away, her cheeks red again.
My eyes glanced around us and I noticed the guy from the gym and cafeteria watching us from the bus station. The grip on her arm moved to her hand and soon we reached the dorm. It took us around ten walking minutes to get there. She looked up at me in silence and smiled slightly.
- Thank you for walking me here. Be careful on your way back. - She was about to enter the dorm but I pulled her by her arm and hugged her gently.
- Your ex is following us. Let me go in with you. - I said quietly and she nodded against my chest so I lift her by her legs, holding her thighs as she wrapped her arms and legs around me.
- Pretend you're kissing me. - With those words she moved her face down close to mine and stared at me while I tried to open the door, staring up at her.
The tension was there, our faces were so close that only a little move would connect our lips. The sin was so close, but I couldn't commit it. I like someone else and that's unfortunately not her. Therefore I couldn't kiss her, no matter how much she liked me. But I would love to kiss her one day if I get the chance to do so. And if I like her in that way.
Our breaths mixed into a warm cloud and she held my cheek with one hand, her other in my hair. The feeling was new, as I don't exactly remember the first time I've had sex with someone since I was drunk. In my subconscious, I thought about what it would be like with her. With the thought, my cheeks turned red.
In the meantime, I managed to open the door and go to the elevator door where I stopped and put her down, watching while she was pressing the button to call the elevator to head to her floor. It took a while since it was pretty old and rusty. Mona stared at her feet the entire ride in the elevator and got out once we arrived at her floor while rummaging through her bag to find her door keys.
- You're not allowed to be here but if he will be in front of my door stalking me, I will let you sleep here. You can be on the couch or if you wish, you can sleep in my bed. I don't really mind. - She laughed awkwardly and I smiled, my cheeks and ears turning red. Not because I like her, but because I am embarrassed as hell.
I honestly wouldn't mind sleeping with her in the same bed. We've grown quite close in the past week and I felt like I trusted her and she trusted me. However, I had chosen the couch.
She unlocked the door and let me inside. There were quite a lot of decorations embellishing the walls. Warm and old furniture was placed in neatly, making the room seem more home like and gave it an unique aesthetic. Going through a small hallway, I entered the bathroom to wash my hands and freshen up. It was cold but quite decorated. It had lots of pictures on the wall which added a pop of color to the black and white bathroom. The tiles were black on the floor and half of the walls, and the appliances were white.
I headed out of the bathroom, turned the light off and got back into the living room. It was a small couch, a tv and an armchair which matched the couch. She was in the kitchen, walking around and humming a melody.
- Are you hungry? I can make us a quick dinner. - Mona asked, looking at me over her shoulder.
- I'm a bit hungry. Can I help you out a bit? - I chuckled. - I don't want you to do it alone and just watch.
- I thought about a salad maybe? - She was biting her lip, insecure about my answer.
- Yeah sure. What will we put in it? - I was washing my hands, looking at her with a smile.
- Well, salad, carrot... I have some corn, some cold chicken and cooked and sliced potatoes. - She spoke while looking in the fridge.
- Let's put all of that in it then. - I smiled and she nodded, taking the food out.
We made the salads and sat on the couch, turning on a movie and watching it, stuffing our mouths with the meal and staring at the screen without words. We were pretty invested in the criminal documentary and without words as unexpected things came on. Somehow, I felt so much closer to her now. As I am mentioning that, she was leaned against my arm the whole time.
Once we were both done devouring the salads, I got up and washed the dishes quickly. When I reached the couch again, I noticed her sleeping face, the hair covering half of her face. It made a smile show up on my face and a hint of blush made its way in my cheeks. While I was observing her face, she hummed something, turned her head and yawned. It really wasn't for longer than a minute.
I slowly lift her up, bringing her into her dark bedroom. I laid her on her big bed, turned the heater on and pulled the curtains on before leaving the room and returning to the living room. Before returning to the couch I closed the curtains and from the corner of my eye, I saw the guy again staring directly at me. So I looked out again, not moving the curtain and he was there, sitting on the sidewalk and looking right up at the window, just waiting for me to move the curtain and show my face to him.
But he wasn't going to get it just like that.
