39: Race Against Time

"What would you be interrupting?" asked Vashi with a raised eyebrow, catching on to what she was implying.

"Sorry, nothing. It's just...a dragon named Alanze wants to see the princess." replied the General.

"Well as you can see, she's incapable of meeting with her right now. She's in a lot of pain." said Vashi. When Raya released another groan, he held her closer and gently caressed her back.

Atitaya got the wrong implication and she cleared her throat and said, "Okay I'll uh...let her know that Raya is unwell."

On her way out, she encountered Virana and said, "Chief Virana, you said that Namaari is dating Raya, correct?"

"Correct..." The Chief raised a brow, confused as to why Atitaya would ask such a question. "Why?"

"It's just...the male with the undercut, he seems really...affectionate with her. She's in pain."

"Oh you're referring to Vashi. He is her brother that I told you about."

Atitaya remembered when Virana told her the news but she was busy and didn't actually get a chance to meet him. "Oh that explains it..."

"Right. They're just close siblings and Vashi is pretty defensive of her."

"Oh and uh, a dragon was here that wanted to see her but she's in too much pain."

"A dragon? Well I will see how Raya is doing and then go and see the dragon."

"Okay Chief."

Atitaya informed Alanze that Raya was in a lot of pain and Alanze sighed and said, "I'll be back soon, okay?"

"Okay."

Raya was given a cup of herbal tea that should help to ease the pain. After a while, she improved and eventually fell asleep. Virana motioned for Vashi to follow her and they exited the infirmary.

"Apparently, the General thought that you had affair with Raya."

Vashi's eyes narrowed and he said, "I realized from how she spoke and her body language. It makes me so upset when people sexualize me and Raya. Jiro did it too. Like she's my sister for dragon's sake!"

"I guess they're not used to seeing loving siblings showing affection. Don't let her bother you too much."

"As long as I don't cross paths with her."

Their conversation was interrupted when Namaari approached. "Mist, you look absolutely exhausted." said Virana as she observed her daughter.

"I am...I had to settle a dispute and do a few other things. Is Raya okay? I heard she was in the infirmary." replied Namaari.

"Yes she is doing better. She's actually sleeping now." said Vashi.

"Lovely."

"Alanze, I can try to summon an ancient dragon to help." said Pengu.

"Pengu, we don't know what is going on in there...and you- you can't take such a risk!" said Alanze.

"I will. I cannot let anything happen to Raya."

"I don't want her condition to get worse either but you can be killed by the power surges in there." said Alanze. 

"Raya is destined to be one of Kumandra's greatest leaders. I have completed my work as a dragon superior. It's time for the rest of you to carry on my legacy. If I don't make it out alive, it is meant to happen." said Pengu.
