by now, all of your stuff was packed up in boxes that were stacked around the apartment the two of you shared. you were sitting on the reclined sofa with your computer in your lap, you chewed at your nails as you scrolled through the multiple house and condos on the website pulled up in front of you.
you and katsuki still weren't talking, which was no huge surprise to you, half of the time he didn't even come home anymore which only made it easier for you to detach yourself from him and easier to leave without second thoughts. you pushed your glasses up your nose a little as you clicked through the apartment you were viewing, low hums of approval coming from you.
your ears perked up at the sound of the door opening, looking up at seeing katsuki walking inside before closing and locking it back, swiftly removing his shoes and walking right past you, not making eye contact or saying anything. "stubborn ass" you muttered before going back to looking at the places.
you didn't hear him coming back out there, his breath fanning against the back of your neck and making the hairs stand up as he spoke. "what are you doing?" you jumped and turned around to slap him, which he skillfully dodged. "don't do that!" you exclaimed before huffing out, earning a quiet laugh from him. your eyebrows crinkled together when the heavy scent of alcohol and cigarettes flooded your nostrils, which you could only assume was from him.
"i'm looking at new places" you said quietly. he didn't give any response, not that you expected him to anyways. although the break up was still very fresh, you needed to leave so you could have your own space and not be reminded of him wherever you turned.
nonetheless he stayed there hovering over your shoulder, staring down at the screen right with you. "hope you know you can't leave until the lease is up" you paused for a moment. "what the fuck" you grumbled to yourself as you threw your head into your hands, groaning loudly.
when you two signed the lease, the neither one of you predicted that it would ever come to this—barely being able to have a simple conversation without an argument being created, so of course you went with the long term lease, which was twelve months.
it was only month four into the lease.
"what if i leave but y'know still pay rent and stuff?" you heard him hum in disapproval. "nah, since your name is on it you would still have to be living in the apartment or he could terminate it and we both get charged a fucking arm and leg" you whined in frustration before lifting up off of the couch.
"i'm gonna go talk to him" you said while walking to the door, you were slipping into your nike slides before you heard a low chuckle from him. "wow, you really wanna get away from me that bad huh?" you stopped and looked up at him, his figure still looming over the back of the couch like you were still in front of him on your laptop.
your mouth parted open to speak but you decided not to say anything, closing it again before you opened the door, locking the bottom lock before leaving out.

"what do you mean you can't do anything?!" you asked with attitude in your tone as you stood in front of your landlord's apartment door, the man having it open just a little as he perked his head out through the crack and talked to you. "you two signed twelve months, you two do twelve months" he shrugged as he spoke with his thick italian accent. "okay but" you exhaled, trying to think of something.
"me and my boyfriend just broke up so we just need our own space" you explained. the man downturned his lips for a minute "such a shame, you two are my favorite tenants" you knew he was lying. there had been countless times he came banging on your door complaining and threatening to kick you two out over the noise level, from the loud arguing and sex.
"gio, you gotta do sum about that lease man" he let out a small noise of irritation as he scratched at his patchy beard. "nothing i can do, you gotta live there for the whole year—the both of you" he made sure to add the end.
you smacked your lips and turned around to walked away, hearing him mutter out something in italian before closing his door back, the sound of multiple locks locking following behind it.

you walked back inside of your apartment and slammed the door behind you, kicking your shoes off as you went and tossed yourself on the couch cushions, trying to figure out what your next move was going to be.
"what did he say?" your irritation grew from his voice. you scoffed to yourself before turning your head over, smashing your face into the soft cushions "you know what the fuck he said" your words were muffled but he could still make them out, a smile crawling on his feature from the fact that he was right.
"death toll now in the thousands, thanks to the new deadly disease spreading around that doctors are calling, corona virus" you looked over at the tv, eyebrows furrowed as you listened to what the woman was saying.
"won't catch me outside, i bet you that" you said to yourself as you continued watching the screen, taking in all the information that was being said.
