She was trying so hard to kiss my face, specifically my mouth, but I managed to turn my head in another direction every time making me laugh. It was just past sunset and the room was starting to get dark making her look more like an over-sized rat instead of a puppy. As she laid on my stomach, I softly ran my fingertips over the top of her head making her blink a few times. Her eyes were dark but they still shined bright despite the darkness surrounding us. She stared at me.

"Do you trust me yet ?" I joked, "You're pretty big for a three month old puppy." She yawned at that.

A knock at my door reminded me why she was brought here. And I began to get annoyed.

"Yea?" I answered.

The door opened as Danielle came in and smiled. She closed it softly before coming to sit by me on the bed. "She's falling asleep." I mouthed to her silently so she knew not to talk so loud. Right when I did, her head shot up from between my breasts and stared at Danny before giving a careless huff and laying back down. "Guess she's not so tired." she grinned as she petted her.

"Yea. She played for a while after the argument with my dad. And played some more when we came up. She's just starting to calm down."

"I heard the yelling. That's when I went outside." Her gaze softened. She got comfortable on the other side of my bed facing me.

"I guess I should be used to his ways by now. He couldv'e just told me without bringing a dog to make things easier. I wouldv'e understood eventually."

She gave me a look. "Really? You're the most stubborn person I know. Understand isn't in your dictionary."

True.

"That's why I said eventually." I repeated. I turned my attention back to the angel on top of me as a way of ending the conversation. She sighed knowing what it meant.

"Have you come up with a name for her yet?" she asked. I thought for a moment.

"No," I frowned. "I can't think of one."

"Well..since you like mythology, why don't you give her a name like one of the goddesses?" she suggested.

This is why I'm close to her, she's the brain out of the two of us.

That makes me the one to take action I suppose.

"How's Athena?" I asked out loud. As if she understood me, the pup opened her eyes and watched me.

"Of course it's Athena." Danielle said rolling her eyes.

"So?" I defended.

"What are you going to wear tomorrow?" she asked ignoring what I said. I looked up at her confused.

"What do you mean?"

"Elder said we should dress presentable for when the Maska Pack come." she explained grabbing a pillow from behind me to rest her head on. I bumped my head on my headboard in the process but was too focused on what she said to react.

"There's no reason for me to dress up. They're just a pack, not the president."

"Lana-"

"I might just leave when they come. I have to buy food for Athena anyway. All I could give her was water today. I'm sure she's hungry." I interrupted knowing she was going to talk about me being disrespectful.

"You can't run from this forever you know. And being the mate of a male is not all about wiping his ass. As I heard a particular member say." I looked up to find her giving me a pointed look.

"How do you know? Maybe you'll be his mate. I don't know why dad's so stuck on it being me."

"Probably because of your dazzling eyes. You'll charm Mr. Alpha tomorrow."

"No."

"Okay." She got up and stretched her back.

I took the time to admire her figure. She was perfect. Long lean legs, blonde hair, and brown eyes. Just like everyone else. She also dances, all the more reason why her legs look so toned. You can't miss her when she walks across the room. She practically glides with her bright hair flowing behind her.She didn't need the natural light of the sun for that. Her chest was also perfect. Their firmness complimented her collarbones which stuck out not too much to make her look skinny. Her face...

Smirking.

"Staring?" she mocked.

I glowered. "No. I just can't believe you haven't found your mate yet. The gods are fucked in the head to keep someone like you waiting."

"The gods are on my side. I know in due time they'll find me the right one." She kindly said. "Better be a good looking one though." She grunted. I laughed imagining her with a short, pimple-filled human. Athena woke up and attempted to bark.

"Guess that's my que to leave." She said. "I'll see you tomorrow Lana. On the line might I add."

"Shut up." I replied.

As she turned to walk away, I noticed she was swishing her ass. On purpose. "Nice ass."

She turned as she stepped through the doorway. "I know." Then she closed the door.
