Chapter 4

Mama's Back :-]

     My eyes were closed but I could feel the sun's heat on my face. I wanted to stay this way but I would fall asleep. Something I can't do because of today's event that they'll be moving in the house across from us. Some of our pack members used to live there until they moved out to build a place of their own to call home. I could understand why. The need for privacy is a lot more necessary since most of the people here are mated. 

     Except for Danny, me, and a few other girls of course. I sat up noticing Athena was no longer on the bed with me. I searched the room and found her searching the floor for food.

Poor girl. 

"Athena", I called to her. Her eyes snapped to mine as she froze in place. "You hungry?" I said aloud knowing I wouldn't get a response. She ran to my bed and attempted to hop on but fell back to the floor instead. Being that my bed was too tall for her. I barked a laugh and got down to find some appropriate clothing I can go out in. Searching through my closet, I found some black jeans and a sweatshirt, not bothering to look for a tank to wear underneath.

Or maybe I should wear a t-shirt...

     Grabbing a Coca-Cola top instead I threw them on the bed before getting in the shower. Athena started scratching the door, crying to come in. Sighing, I opened the door and granted her access. 

"I can't bathe you, I don't have soap and stuff." I explained knowing she can't be in the actual bath with me. 

Once I was done, I quickly got dressed and decided not to put makeup on today. "Come on." I said holding the door open for her. 

"Hey Mom." I greeted and I descended the stairs. I grabbed an apple from the counter and began to munch on it. She looked up from the book she was reading and smiled.

"Morning dear. Why are you up so early?" she asked glancing at her watch. 

"It's nine o'clock mom." I reminded her. "You want to come with me to the store ? I've got to get some stuff for Athena." 

"Athena?" I nodded towards the puppy who was searching the floor again. "I like the name." She grinned. "Sure I'll go with you. What time are we coming back?" 

"When will this pack arrive?"

"They're on their way. They should get here around noon since they left earlier than scheduled because they're coming from so far.", she guessed.

I nodded. "I'm sure we'll be back by then."

She got up and then froze.

"What?"

"Which car are you taking?" she asked narrowing her eyes.

"The Toyota. Relax.", I laughed. She doesn't like fast cars. She says that it's too much for her "humanness". She is a human after all. The only human accepted in the pack that is. For some reason it gave the people all the more reason to respect her because she didn't judge us for being abnormal when my father fell hard for her. She proved her strength by giving birth to me as well. Going through labor with one has its consequences. 

     Throwing the apple away, I went to pick up Athena and grabbed the car keys walking towards the front door.

I put the car on park once we arrived at the store and picked up Athena again from the backseat.

"I need to ask you something.", my mom said breaking the thirty minutes of comfortable silence we just had.
