Opal looked down at hole-filled William. He laid there limp, almost as if he was dead. Opal didn't understand humans or anthrae yet, so she tried to think of a reasonable step. She tried to see if her databanks of information contained anything about a circumstance similar to what has happened. She quickly, to her dismay, realized that there was nothing she had on file that could help her. She realized her own damaged visor slowly repaired itself, becoming whole once more.

She touched it, scared that she would damage it, but that fear was quickly dispelled. She came up with theories and possible ideas of what she could do. 'If my "wounds" could heal themselves, then perhaps William's will as well.' She thought using her reasoning program and decided to test her theory. She slowly and carefully reached out to William's body.

She pushed her hands to his chest, now riddled with gaps. She quickly noticed that he wasn't bleeding, which by knowledge that she gathered, they should do. 'How odd.' Opal remarked internally. She focused, hoping it would initiate some kind of response, some kind of healing that would repair the digital copy of William present. She closed her eyes, and deafened her audio receptors to help her concentrate on the task at hand.

Unknown to her however, thin almost vein like lights grew form her chest. Pink, and purple veins shone, following up to her hands and jumped across to William's body. They went into this chest. She didn't open her eyes, she just focused on the possibility that her action could have an effect on his digital wellbeing. Slowly the holes closed up, not making a sound during it. The clothing on his chest followed suite and stitched themselves up properly.

She continued her focus on this idea that she could heal, never opening her eyes. She felt a warmth residing in her chest. Like her code responding to something, a sort of aching if she could describe it. This aching felt like it was being soothed and calmed. At least those were how she could best describe them. This was all new to her, these feelings were so alien to her.

William's body finally became whole, almost as if nothing had happened, and tiredly William opened his eyes. "Hmmm?" William groaned in question, wondering what had happened. He was slow to remember the previous events that led up to him waking on the ground, with Opal's hands resting on his chest. "Opal?"

But Opal couldn't hear a thing. Her audio receptors had still been deactivated. Her aching stopped entirely, it felt......pleasant, a rush of happiness and euphoria, like a missing piece of her was back. She opened her eyes. Her once black visor now having two bright, pink, reptilian eyes. Before her very visor was a conscious and healthy William. She collapsed onto him, hugging him extremely close. William grunted in surprise.

"Hey Opal." William greeted strained by the fierce hold of the synth. "Easy up. Please." William slapped the pink synth's back. Opal shook her head, but did easy up on her strong hold. William started to hug her back, and looked beyond her shoulders. On the ground was the remains of the devasting machine that shot him full of holes, holes that have seemingly have disappeared.

"It's so good to hear you again." Opal whispered into William's ear, carrying a tone of relief. William embraced, closing his eyes and snuggling close to Opal. He buried his face into her neck, enjoying the close contact. The two sat there for a little while, holding one another. "Do you mind explaining to me what just happened?" William asked, trying to separate himself from the clingy synth and failed.

She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. I tried to fix your code the best I could." William recoiled in confusion.

"What do you mean, 'Fix my code'?" William tried to look Opal in the eye.

"You were full of holes. I thought that I could repair you, so I focused hoping that I could elicit a reaction, one that would heal you." Opal explained, and finally she ended her hug. "But more importantly, don't you ever do something like that ever again!" Her pink lights turned red, showing her rage. "I nearly lost you, I won't lose you again." She stared deep into his soul. "I swear it." She growled. William had a cold sweat and nodded frantically, agreeing with the synth.
