The blue bird dragged their torned wings as they slowly moved toward what looked like a light. In that obscure unfamiliar world where they got trapped in, for what seemed like an eternity.

They will have their beautifully sky-blue feathers back.

Soon.

They will fly.

Joe all done with her manuscript, delighted invited Eric over for dinner as she promised him a cooked meal during their date.

-Hmm...I wonder what I should cook for him tonight...I never got to ask him for his favorite dish...Joe seemed preoccupied with her thoughts while in the supermarket.

She finally decided what to buy and to cook.

7pm,

-Good evening, Joanna! I hope I am not too early? Said Eric while a bit flustered in front of her door.

-Oh no, not at all! You are right on time. I put the dish on the oven right now.

Lasagna, that was what she went for. Her specialty. She desperately hoped, he will enjoy it.

-I really love lasagna. I have not had it for a long while now. Yum! I cannot wait to dig in! Declared Eric with a beaming face.

You could tell Joe was bright red the very same color of her crimson red hair.

And so, they enjoyed their meal while sharing their music taste and talking about the finished manuscript.

-May I have the privilege of reading your book? Or are you going to make me wait till it gets published? Questioned Eric joe while smiling.

-I will give you the very first copy if it ever is approved first.

The song, can't help falling in love started playing, and naturally Eric grabbed Joe's hand and politely asked for a dance.

She nodded shyly.

Suddenly, there could be heard knocking on the front door.

-Eh? who could it be this late? Wondered Joe.

As she opened the door, her face went fully pale.

It was him

Her father.

Eric rushed in, seeing Joe's face. He could not understand what was going on.

-Hello, I am Joanna's father. Said Hugh.

-Hello, I am one of Joanna's friends.

Joe still completely dumb founded, stayed still like stone.

Her father invited himself in, of course.

Joe sat still on the sofa silently. Thankful, very much that Eric was there with her. She would not know what to do or say in front of the men behind all her life's trauma.

-So, how is your mother? Still in touch with her at least? Hugh asked.

-Yes, she is doing well. That was the only words that she mustered the courage to let out.

And at one point she left to her bedroom. Leaving Eric to deal with her awful father.

Two hours had passed by, till Eric knocked on the door.

-Come in.

-Hey...Joanna...So your father just left...

A deep sigh of relief was heard from her.

-are you alright? Do you want to... talk about it?

-Sure, I will tell you everything.

And she poured all that she has had inside hidden for all these years. Started sobbing while telling her only trustworthy important person. All the trauma that men has caused her. How she has been closed off from everyone. How much of a failure he has made her feel.

Eric hugged her tightly and let her cry out as much as she wanted.
