Chapter 9:

Daniel’s POV

Once the firework show had ended we decided that it’d be a good time to try and get some sleep. No one has tried to contact us and we haven’t heard a search party going on; so we figured that people still don’t know that we’re stranded. My phone died some time ago when I tried calling, so really there’s no way anyone can get ahold of us.

We climbed back up the ladder and made a little bed for ourselves, trying to make it as comfortable as it can get with hay. The minute Skylar’s head touched the hay, she was out. As for me, I couldn’t sleep at all. My thoughts were running wild, as I began to think about the events that went on tonight.

What was it that Skylar said; ‘this is like a cliché romance movie?’ at the time she said that I didn’t really understand what she meant, but now that I think about, I can see why said that.

I mean what are the odds that we’d get to drive to the party, which we never attended by ourselves? And then as we’re driving along, the truck would break down, and as fat or luck, whatever you want to call it, we don’t know anything about motor vehicles. So, of course, we have to walk back to town, because our phones don’t work. Then we get caught in a thunder and lightning storm, which forces us to get shelter. It’s almost like this is movie planned or something.

Sure, I’ve wanted to spend time with Skylar, and see how she is once you get her to open up, but to have it happen like this? It’s just not really what I had in mind. But now that she’s gotten to see that I’m not such a bad guy, and she let me kiss her, maybe just maybe, she’ll let me take her out on a date.

Looking down at the time on my watch I saw that it was only four o’clock in the morning, I have another five hours before people start waking up for the day. I heard a small moan, causing me to look down at Skylar. She had changed her position so she was leaning up against me, her hand underneath her head as a pillow. Scooting down, I got in a comfortable position, and wrapped my arm around her, and as gently as possible pulled her closer. She rested her head on my shoulder, and wrapped her arm around my waist. A contented smile formed as my lips, as sleep started to take over my body.

“Ahhhh!” a high pitched girlish sound welcomed my ears. I startled awake, and looking straight at me was none other than my sister’s best friend Serria. I groaned as my head started to hurt, and all I really wanted to do was go back to sleep.

Beside me, I felt Skylar start to stir, and I watched as she opened her eyes. She looked at me in a cute confused expression. Then the events of last night started popping back into her head, her eyes widened as well as a blush appearing on her cheeks.

“Good morning,” I whispered, letting a happy smile form on my lips. I wanted to greet her by saying good morning beautiful, but that might just scare her a little; so I stuck with the two simple words.

As she pushed herself up from her sleeping her position, I watched as she rubbed her sleepy eyes and yawned. The way she rubbed her eyes, made it look like a little kid rubbing their eyes; it was too cute. Tangled all over her hair was hay, hay and more hay; making it look like a rats nest. Even though she was a mess, somehow she still was able to look amazing, just as beautiful now as last night.

“Yeah, uh, sorry to disturb your slumber and your lovey dovey moment, but uh why are you guys in my dad’s barn?” Serria asked, causing both of us to look at her. She gave us a suspicious look, but it was contradicted by the knowing smile that formed on her lips.
