Chapter 14:

The next morning when I woke up, the light of the sun streamed in through my thin curtains. Looking up at my sky blue ceiling, I couldn’t help but let a happy smile form on my lips. Last night was amazing, perfect, maybe a little too perfect; but all in all amazing! I never thought that I’d have that great of a time with someone or that I’d feel so safe and secure.

Throwing the covers back, I hopped out of bed, eager to begin this new day, and find what it’ll bring. Pulling out a tank top, and light blue jean shorts, I quickly showered, shaved my legs, and put on my favorite lotion. After checking in the mirror making sure that I looked good, I noticed something different about myself. The blush that formed on my cheeks at the just the mere thought of seeing Daniel, and the sparkle of happiness that he brings to me, must be the first signs of a girl crushing on someone.

Running down the stairs, I found that my parents were sitting around the living room, my dad reading some sort of book, and my mom sitting in her favorite chair reading the Bible. I smiled at the sight; we really are a family out of a story book.

“Good morning!” I chirped out, the still goofy smile on my face. “Would it be alright if I went down to the barn for a while?” I asked them. I watched as my mom nodded her head, a knowing smile on her face, while my dad just gave me a straight expressionless look.

Running to the kitchen I grabbed a cinnamon raisin bagel, and was flying out the back door. Walking to the farm, I couldn’t see Daniel working outside, so I’m guessing that he’s in the barn. Opening the brown doors, I peered in, and found the horses all turn their head toward me. I smiled at them, and tried to peer like I wasn’t up to something, which I wasn’t, but horses can come up with the wildest things; you can see it in their eyes.

Looking around the barn, I found that there was no Daniel. Walking to the tack room, I found that there was no one there. However, I did find the book I was reading a few weeks ago, I was upset that had left here when I was in California, and found it difficult to get to sleep with the suspenseful place in the book unsolved. Also I saw lying out on the desk was my dairy/story book. I gasped as I realized that my mom, dad, brother or Daniel, could’ve opened it and read my thoughts and feelings. Quickly grabbing it, I hugged it close to my chest, and grabbed the special pen that I always use.

Deciding that today was a good day to go down to the creek that was just beyond the field; I grabbed my book, and a blanket, and began the long trek. The sun was beating down on me, making me break out in sweat, but the nice breeze and the surrounding trees, was able to dry it off.

That’s one thing I like about Washington, even though it can get up to one hundred degrees, it’s not like the humid weather in say the East Coast, we have the nice breeze, and depending on where you are, the air smells fresh. Although, the nice wide open air I do enjoy, I love the ocean air. The salt water in the breeze, along with the crashing waves; I get a sense of comfort and happiness.
