Lyla Mitchell's POV
"That was so much fun, Adam! Did you see when I hit that huge wave?" I say, ecstatic with joy. I had a huge grin on my face from ear to ear, and had a little skip in my step as we walked back to the group, all drenched in the water with our boards under our arms, sand sticking to the bottom of our feet by each step. Surprisingly, I picked up the technique and skill of surfing easily, much to the surprise of Adam, who only got to laugh once as I hit the water.
"I did, Lyla. Jeez, you pick that up pretty well, except for that time you face planted right into the water!" He said, laughing hard as he recalled the embarrassing moment. I rolled my eyes playfully and punched him in the arm, causing him to falter back, and smirk. He fought back and punch my lightly in the stomach. We broke out into fits of laughter as we both tried to punch each other playfully. It got to the point where I had to use my board as a shield, and I couldn't stop laughing as I tried to block Adam's punches.
"Stop! Stop! I surrender! I surrender!" I say through giggles as Adam stopped punching me. I looked up from behind my board at Adam, who smiled nicely and ruffled my hair. We laughed all the way to the group, and set down our boards.
Connie and Guy were talking to each other, Julie was reading, dean and Fulton were playing catch with a football a bit ways back, and Charlie and Luis were making sand castles. I chuckled at their 5 year old behaviour. I expect nothing less from the Conway boy.
I suddenly had a thought as I put my flannel back on. I remembered seeing an ice cream shop on our way here, and I could go for some cold desserts.
"Hey, remember that ice cream shop on our way here? Do you guys want to go?" I say, asking everyone in the Vicinity. They all contemplated my question, making a decision in their heads.
"Nah, me and Guy are good." Connie said, Guy nodding beside her. I nodded understandingly as Julie spoke up.
"I'm full from all the snacks, sorry." She said nicely.
"I'm good."
"Me too."
"Second that." dean, Fulton, and Luis all said, going back to their activities before them. I was pretty surprised that no one wanted ice cream, I mean, it was ice cream! Everyone loves ice cream!
"Sorry, Mitch. I was gonna rest a bit and read." Adam says from beside me. I could tell he felt bad for rejecting my offer, but I just smiled at the dirty blonde boy.
"All good banksie, I'll just go by myself." I say, turning around to head to the shop. Before I took a step I heard someone clear their throat.
Crap. I thought as I turned back around, to see Conway getting up. I was hoping that maybe if I forgot about him he wouldn't come. I raised one eyebrow up as he opened his mouth.
"Wow, a bit rude there, Lyla. What if I wanted ice some cream?" He said in a cocky voice, making me roll my eyes.
"Well, do you?" I say in an annoyed tone, hoping he didn't. I silently prayed he would say no, but I was rudely shut out.
"As a matter of fact, I do." He says, walking up beside me. Great. Just as I thought today was a good day, I had to walk with spazway. Ugh.
I sighed deeply, steeling a glance at Adam. His eyes were stern on the Conway boy, full of envy and resent. I never knew how much Adam hated Charlie, but it was clear in the blue eyes of banksie.
I gave him a 'help me' look, as he returned it with a sympathetic one.
"Are you coming or not?" I hear Charlie say in front of me, now a few steps ahead. I grumbled as I walked up to the boy.
