Lyla Mitchell's POV

"Lyla?" I hear someone say in a heavy accent. I turned around to face the mysteriously familiar voice, and to my dismay, it turned out to be gunner!

He was wearing a pair of black khaki shorts with an open up flannel. I would be lying to say that he didn't look attractive. His hair was wet and he had a huge smile plastered on his tanned face. I caught myself staring for to long and quickly looked away, before smiling too.

"Oh, hey gunner! What are you doing here?" I say in a nice voice, remembering when i cancelled on him today. I felt kind of guilty that I was out swimming and having fun while gunner was by himself, but I just took another lick of my ice cream as the boy spoke up.

"My team, we're at the beach, what are you doing here?" He asked, making my stomach churn. This totally does not look like we were training, I had a freaking bathing suit on and everything! I mentally punched myself in the face as I spoke up.

"Yeah, we're here too! Just cooling down after our big training session we just had." I say, trying to save my ass. I received a confusing look from Charlie as gunner nodded, and stared at me. His eyes trailed across my whole body, making me feel all squirmy and hot inside. They landed back onto my eyes, and he smiled.

"I like your swim suit." He says, making my knees buckle under the wait of my blush. If I had a mirror right now, I swear I would be red as a tomato.

"Thanks-"

I only got to say before being dragged aside by Charlie. His face looked stern and annoyed, and I forgot he was even here for a second. His jaw was clenched as I knitted my eyes brows together, wondering what his deal was.

"What are you doing?" He whispered in a rude tone, taking me aback. I just glared at him and whispered back.

"What do you mean?" I say, steeling a glance at the Icelandic boy who was just looking at the trees, and rubbing the back of his neck, also confused by this interaction.

"I mean, he's an Iceland dude! You cant go parading around with him!" He said, taking me by surprise. Since when did he care who I hung out with?

His sentence made me glare at him with resent. He wasn't going to ruin this day today. Not after all the days he ruined for me before.

"What's it to you, moron?" I say, fed up with his sudden change in demeanour.

"Think of the team, Lyla! You hang out with the enemy, they'll hate you! More then they do now!" He says, causing me to scoff at his words. The only person who hates me is him, and I mirror the same feeling.

I cant believe a thought he was becoming nice. I cant believe that I thought we could get along. Even be friends.

"I know what you can do to repay me now," I whispered in a hasty voice, wanting to just forget about the Conway boy. He always does this! Ruins stuff for me!

"Oh yeah? What?" He asked in a rude tone.

"You can leave."

His face turned from clear resent and furious, to surprise and, flustered. Like the words that left my mouth tore a hole through his heart.

I hope they did.

"Fine! Have fun with this Jackass. You guys are perfect for each other. You both have ugly personalities." He said, leaving me speechless. What is his problem? How did he change so quick? One minute we are laughing and eating ice cream, the next he's screaming at me! His attitude changes like the wind, and I hated him even more now.

"How can you just assume the worst about someone you hardly know?" I say in an angry whisper, causing him to scoff.

"What can I say, I learned from the best." He says, causing me to stiffen up with confusion. Was he talking about me? What did he mean by that?
