A loud cry filled the room. Regina fell back against the pillows and took in a deep breath. Her chest rose and fell while she tried to calm her breathing and return her heartbeat to its normal pace. She closed her eyes and brought her hand to her forehead, wiping away the sheen of sweat that was there. When she opened her eyes, Robin was beaming at her. He lifted his hand and pushed her sweaty hair off of her face. He took her hand and kissed her knuckles.
"I told you that you could do it," he said.
"Yes, you did," she giggled. "Now, where's my baby?"
"Right here," Whale said, handing Regina her daughter. "What's her name?" Regina looked at Robin before answering.
"Raelynn," she said looking down at the baby girl in her arms and smiling.
"Hey, sweet girl. I'm your mommy," she coped, kissing Raelynn's forehead. "I'm so happy you're here! Daddy is over there, why don't you say hi?"
She handed the little baby over to her daddy.
"Hey there, darling. I'm your daddy. Oh, you look so much like your mother. You have her stunning eyes," he said, looking up at Regina and realizing that she was crying.
"Sweetheart, what's wrong?"
"Nothing," Regina smiled. "Everything is perfect."
Then, Whale came in and took the baby to give her her first checkup. Finally, the new parents were alone and could rest. Robin moved to sit by Regina on the bed. He wrapped his arms around her and she leaned into him as he rubbed back soothingly.
"You did beautifully, my dear," Robin said, planting a kiss on top of her head.
"I love you," was she said, looming up at him. He leaned his head down and kissed her lips tenderly, sending waves of energy and love coursing through both of their bodies. For once in her life, Regina felt truly safe and happy.
