Chapter 6

Alice POV

When I got through, I saw the group struggling against a few demo-bats and I sighed. I got out my gun and shot one that was about to go for Eddie and that caused everyone to look at me. The bats started flying towards me "get out of here now!" I said running away as more bats showed up "wait Alice! You can't fight them off alone" Eddie said and I started running faster "JUST GO!" I screamed and they all made a run for it in the opposite direction. I ran as fast as my legs would carry me until I stopped at a big rock and hid behind it. I turned invisible so that the bats couldn't see me. Then I heard a voice in my head "there you are sister. I was wondering when you would stop hiding from me." I heard Henry's voice and I groaned. "And I see you brought friends along. I will be sure to make good use of them." He said and I turned visible "if you touch any of them, I will end you." I said looking at the sky and the bats started swarming around me but I had a little trick up my sleeve. "Anyone up for a barbeque?" I ask and the bats came closer. I grabbed my home-made flame thrower that I keep hidden behind the rock and started roasting the bats. I heard Henry 'scream' if you can call it that before I turned invisible and ran in the direction of the others.

  Eddie POV

We were all hiding at skull rock watching the bats fly past us and catching our breathes "okay... That was close" Robin said and I agreed with her "yeah too close." I said and then we heard Steve groan in pain and fell against the rock "Steve?" Nancy asked and ran to him and Robin did too "okay. So, the good news is I'm pretty sure wooziness is not a symptom of rabies but uhm if you start having hallucinations or muscle spasms or you start feeling aggressive, like you wanna punch me, let me know" Robin said and I looked around for any signs of Alice. Not finding any signs of her I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding "where are you, Alice?" I ask silently "I'm sure she's fine Eddie. You don't have to worry." Nancy said and I rolled my eyes "did you see how many bats were after her?" I ask getting more worried just thinking about it as they patched Steve up. I jumped on a rock to get a better look at the place "so uh this place is like Hawkins with monsters and nasty shit?" I ask looking back at the group "pretty much" Nancy said and I nod my head and we heard a branch snap. 

Alice POV

"Alice?" Eddie asked and I walked into view "holy shit!" He said jumping down and running over to me. "Wait--" I started but it was too late as he hugged me and I groan in pain "it's good to see you too buddy. But you gotta watch out for the vines down here." I said and he looked at the vines "why? What's wrong with the vines?" he asks and I shrug "it's all a hive mind." Nancy said "all a what?" Eddie asked "if you step on a vine, you step on a bat, you step on Vecna." I said and I looked over to Nancy "now for my question, what part of "don't do anything stupid" did no one seem to understand?" I ask glaring at the rest of the group "Steve was in trouble; we came to help him." Nancy said and I rolled my eyes "are you hurt?" Eddie asked looking at the blood on my shirt "I'll live." I said as he lifted my blood-stained shirt a little to see a huge gash on my stomach "Jesus! What the hell Alice?" He asked and I rolled my eyes "I'm fine Ed." I said "where are the bats?" Nancy asked and I shrug "most of them... barbequed," I said and they all looked weirdly at me "how?" Steve asked and I smirked "flamethrower" I said pointing to the flamethrower on my back "I hate to ask but where did you get a flame thrower?" Robin asked and I look at Eddie "I feel a joke coming on. Built it." I said and they all looked at me questioningly and Eddie spoke up "how and when?" He asked "that's a long story for another time." I said. "Everything from our world is still here right except people?" Robin asked "as far as I understand, yeah." Nancy said "so theoretically, we could go to the police station and steal guns and grenades and whatever we need to blow up those bat things that's guarding the gate" Robin said "I highly doubt that the Hawkins PD has grenades Robin but guns, yeah sure." Steve said and I nod my head "yeah no grenades." I spoke. "We don't have to go all the way down-town for guns. I have guns in my bedroom" Nancy said and we all looked at her questioningly "you? Nancy Wheeler have guns, plural in your bedroom?" Eddie asked "full of surprises, isn't she?" Robin asked and I nod my head "a Russian Makarov and a revolver." Nancy said and I raised my eyebrow "yeah, you almost shot me with that one." Steve said and Nancy looked at him "you almost deserved it." She said and I rolled my eyes "can you two finish your romance novel later? Some of us have real problems here" I said and they look away awkwardly before Eddie threw his denim vest at Steve "for your modesty dude." He said and I laughed "thank you" I said and started walking when the ground beneath our feet started to shake making me fall on top of Eddie before it all went silent. We heard a creature shriek in the distance "yeah so guns seem like a good idea to me." Eddie said "yeah me too." Robin said and I nod my head "luckily I already got one." I said showing my gun "so what are we waiting for?" Steve asked and walked ahead as Eddie helped me up. We were walking for what seemed like hours, Eddie and Steve next to each other in front of me and Robin and Nancy in front of them "couldn't we have tried a road or something just slightly less creepy." Robin asked and I gave a slight chuckle "I think we're getting close, we're almost out of here. Don't worry." Nancy assured her. "Eddie. Eddie hey man, uh listen I just wanna say thanks for saving my ass back there" Steve said and Eddie walked a bit slower and so did I "Shit, you saved your own ass man. I mean that was a real Ozzy move you pulled back there." Eddie said and I looked weirdly at the pair "Ozzy?" Steve asked and Eddie looked surprised at him "When you took a bite out of that bat. Ozzy Osbourne? Black Sabbath? He bit a bat's head off on stage?" Eddie tried but Steve still didn't understand "It's very metal, what you did. That's all I'm saying." He said and I rolled my eyes "thanks" Steve said "Henderson told me you were a badass. He insisted on the matter, in fact." Eddie said and I saw him getting slightly jealous "Henderson said that?" Steve asked "Oh yeah, shit. The kid worships you dude, like you have no idea, it's kind of annoying to be honest. I don't even know why I care what that little shrimp thinks but uh, guess I got a little jealous Steve. I guess I couldn't accept the fact that Steve Harrington was actually, a good dude. Rich parents, popular, chicks love him, not a douche? No way man, no way. That like flies in the face of all the laws of the universe and my own personal Munson doctrine." he said and I chuckled slightly "still super jealous as hell by the way." He said and I rolled my eyes "okay." Steve said with a slight laugh "which is why I never would have jumped in that lake to save your ass. Not under any uh... Normal circumstances" Eddie said and we heard a branch snap. I looked behind us but not seeing anything we continued to walk. "Nope. Outside of D&D, I am no hero. I see danger and I just turn heel and run." He said and I smiled slightly 'you're my hero Eddie, I don't care what you say' I thought "or at least that's what I learned about myself this week." He said "give yourself a break man." Steve said "see. The only reason I came in here was cause those ladies came in straight after you." He said pointing at Robin and Nancy "now I was too ashamed to be the one who stayed behind. But Wheeler right there, she didn't waste a second. Not one second. She just dove right in. Now I don't know what happened between you two but if I were you, I would get her back. Cause that was as unambiguous act of true love as these cynical eyes have ever seen." Eddie said and Steve looked between him and Nancy. "And if I were you, I would make a move already." He whispered and looked back at me. The ground started to shake again and I fell back "God dammit." Steve said "here we go again." Eddie said and I stayed still "NANCY! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" Robin shouted and we saw her run ahead. We ran after her and we all came to a stop looking at a house in the distance. "Come on." She said leading us to the house. When we got there the inside was full of vines but other than that, it was actually quite nice. "Might be time to get a maid Wheeler." Robin said and I laughed "come on I don't want to stay here longer than we have to." Nancy said going up the stairs with the rest of us following her except for Steve. She opened her closet and took out an old shoe box. When she opened it, instead of there being guns in it, there were shoes "those aren't guns." Eddie said "these heels are a bit pointy but I was hoping for something along the lines of a deadly projectile." Robin said "I don't understand." Nancy said looking at the box "maybe you left them somewhere else" Eddie said "there's a six-year-old in the house; I know where I keep my guns." Nancy defended "And, also I threw these away years ago." She said looking at a note on the desk "I get that grades are important to you but maybe studying can wait until we get out of here." Robin said "these are from sophomore chemistry. And this, this wallpaper, this is old wallpaper and this mirror went to a yard sale. And you." She said picking up a stuffed animal "you're not supposed to be here. No, I gave you to cousin Joanna two years ago." She said and started pacing the room then she went over to her nightstand and opened a book "what is it?" Eddie asked and I looked over his shoulder "Nancy, you're freaking me out." Robin said and I rolled my eyes. Nancy turned around "I think the reason that my guns aren't here is because they don't exist yet." She said looking at a loss for words "they don't...exist?" Eddie asked. "This diary should be full of entries, it's not." She said showing us the book "the last entry is November 6 1983. The day Will went missing, the day the gate opened. We're in the past." She said and we heard Steve screaming "Dustin? Dustin! Can you hear me? Dustin!" We all ran out the door and down the stairs "maybe he really does have rabies" Robin suggested but I knew what he was doing "Steve calm down, shut up and listen." I said and he stayed quiet as we heard a voice "what the hell man?" Eddie asked and I looked at him "it's Dustin, he's here" I said and they all started shouting "Oh for the love of.... EVERYONE SHUT UP!" I said and they all stayed silent "he can't hear us but that doesn't mean we can't talk to him." I said and they all looked at me weirdly "Will found a way." Nancy said and they all looked at her weirdly "what?" Steve asked "He found a way to speak to Joyce through the lights" She said and went over to a lamp trying to turn it on but failing "Guys? You seeing this?" Steve asked pointing his flashlight to the lamp "see? Not completely useless, am I?" I ask glaring at Nancy as they all stared at the glow dust? Whatever you call it "does anyone know Morse code?" Nancy asked looking at me "oh I'm sorry my code is a bit lousy since I have been stuck here for like 6 years." I said rolling my eyes "wait does SOS count? Is that good?" Eddie asked and I nod my head "yeah that's good Ed" I said as he started tapping on the lights "it's working." Robin said and we all went back to Nancy's room and waited "are you guys seeing this?" We heard Dustin ask and Nancy waved her hand around the newly formed dust. We heard him laugh along with Erica "we're not moving it but we're gonna unplug it. Stand by." He said and some of the dust disappeared "okay. Try it now." He said and Nancy started drawing with her finger "that worked." He said and the rest of the group celebrated "Hi." Eddie said which caused me to roll my eyes and Nancy explained how we were stuck here for the time being "You can't get back through Watergate?" Dustin asked and I sighed and Nancy wrote the word "Guarded" "Okay we think we have a theory that can help with that. We think that Watergate isn't the only gate. That there's a gate at every murder sight" Dustin said "Does anybody understand what he's talking about?" Nancy asked and I sighed "it's not rocket science." I said and Nancy drew a question mark without hearing me out "okay seriously? How many times do I have to be right on the money before you guys just trust me?" He asked and I rolled my eyes "Jesus Christ, this kid's gotta get his ego in check." Steve said and I raised my eyebrow at him "It's his tone, right?" Eddie asked "I know." Steve said "okay so how far is your trailer?" Nancy asked "Seven miles." Me and Eddie said simultaneously and he looked at me weirdly "How'd you know that?" He asked and I smirked "not the time." I said "Nancy, I know your house here is like, weirdly, creepily, frozen in time and shit but didn't you always used to have bikes?" Robin asked and we made a run for it to the garage "All of them got on bikes and I was prepared to run until Eddie dragged me to his bike "you know I can run just fine with you guys, right?" I ask him and he glares at me "fine, you just don't wanna see me kick your ass" I said getting on the back of his bike. We all made a break for his trailer and sometime later we got there and I saw not much has changed. When we got inside, I saw the lights I put up was still there to make this place a little brighter (what Joyce did to talk to Will.) "Alice, what is all this?" Eddie asked looked around the trailer where I stayed "welcome to my humble home." I said and they all looked around "so of all the places you could stay, you chose my trailer? Why?" Eddie asked and I sighed "because sometimes I could hear you play your guitar and it made my life a little better down here." I said and he smiled "not to mention that this place is as far away from Henry's lair and he never could seem to find me in here." I said and we looked at the newly formed gate in the living room "That however, is new. Now let's get you guys home." I said and a broom poked through the gate and they all yelled and stepped away from it as I went closer to it and saw Dustin and the gang upside down "hi guys." I said waving at them as the rest of the group came closer and Dustin laughed "BADDA-BADDA BOOM!" He said and left our sight. They tied a few sheets together to make a rope for us to climb up or down? And threw it through the hole. It stayed put and it looked steady while Lucas and Max were getting a mattress from one of the rooms and throwing it on the floor. "Those stains are uh..." Eddie began looking at all of us before looking back at the hole "I don't know what those stains are." He said and I laughed as we all looked at each other debating who's gonna be our test subject. "Guess I'm the guinea pig." Robin said and started climbing the rope. After a few minutes she landed safely on the mattress "that was fun." She said and got off the mattress. As the four of us looked at each other "all right guess I'll go" Eddie said and started to climb and after a few minutes he also landed on the mattress 'looking fucking hot' I thought as I saw him lying on the mattress "that... Was fun." He said smiling as the other two looked at me and I rolled my eyes but landed on the mattress like the rest of them a few minutes later. Nancy was about to climb when suddenly she stopped and we saw Steve try to wake her "Henry..." I said through gritted teeth.
