Chapter 2

Alice POV

We finally arrived at what I assumed was the safe place where Eddie went around the back of the house and into the storage shed. He sat down on a bucket and looked so scared as I watched him "you okay?" I ask him while grabbing a bucket and putting it in front of him sitting on it "no not really." He said as I put my hand on his shoulder which caused him to look at me "I'm sorry about Chrissy." I said and I saw him tear up. "What just happened?" He asked me and I sighed "I think it's time I told you the truth about where I actually came from." I said and he just stared at me looking scared "well first things first, my name is Alice but I have been using a different name for quite some time now." I said and he stared at me "well then what is it?" He asks and I say nothing as I show him a number tattooed on my arm reading 002 "Two? Really that's your name?" He asks me and I nod my head "Yeah, I was abducted when I was a child and taken to the Hawkins lab where I learned that I had special abilities like all the other kids there. But what I didn't know is that I was much stronger than the rest of the kids. I had more abilities. One day there was a kid who fought the first of us a.k.a. my dear old brother throwing him in another dimension and I was involuntarily thrown in with him. What happened with Chrissy back there, my brother did it." I said and he looked surprised at me "your brother?" He asked and I nod my head "yeah let's just say High school is officially the least of your worries now." I said "tell me." He said and I took a deep breath "well 6 years ago I learned that I could move stuff with my mind, turn invisible and also open and close portals." I said and he listened intently "what kind of portals?" He asks me and I look around before opening a small portal in the upside down "I call it the upside down, it's basically this world with a bunch of monsters and shit in it." I said closing it "So my brother that did that to Chrissy, he's in there. Trapped but not completely. He invades minds and kills them all from inside the upside down. Tried to kill me a couple of times as a matter of fact. I had to deal with him for most of my life until I escaped yesterday and the rest you already know." I said and he looked a little calmed down "I think I'm gonna be sick." He said and I chuckled "but if there's one thing you don't have to worry about, it's Henry. I will protect you with my life no matter what, I promise." I said hugging him as he cried probably from all the things he saw. I'm sure if I hadn't seen it a thousand times I would be in this state too. "You liked her, didn't you?" I ask him and he nods his head "yeah well if it makes you feel better, I think she liked you too, judging by the looks of it." I said he laughs slightly "no one likes me at school. They all called me a freak ever since I got to high school" He said and I roll my eyes "that's bullshit and you know it." I said and he looks at me with a smile "you are no freak Edward Munson." I said hugging him again "why don't you try and get some sleep?" I ask him and he nods and climbs into one of the boats and falls asleep almost instantly. I sighed as I watched him sleep 'it's going to be a long night.' I thought as I stood by the door watching for any signs of Henry. The night dragged on for what felt like forever but at least Eddie got some sleep as for me well I don't do sleep like ever. I know it's weird right what kind of a person doesn't need sleep well I don't. Soon enough the sun was rising and I looked at the lake it was beautiful especially right at this moment. A few hours later I heard Eddie yawn and I looked back to see him awake "you're finally up. I was just contemplating if I should throw you in the lake or not." I said and he gave me a look that could kill. "Not a morning person, are we?" I ask him and he glares at me "good thing I brought coffee" I said handing him the mug. He drank it slowly "this is good where did you get it?" He asks me and I look out the window "from the house." I said and he gave me a cute smile "thanks." He said and I nod my head "so what's on the agenda for today?" He asks and I shrug "stay put, I guess. I'll go get food in a bit" I said and he nods his head in agreement "can you bring me a six pack?" He asks and I looked at him in disbelief "It's nine in the morning." I said and he shrugged "or I could go get it myself" He said and I glared at him "Fine, I'll get you your damn beer, just stay here." I said and left to go to town. When I got there, I did my shopping and when I was walking back in the direction of the hideout, I was instantly surrounded by the police "Morning officers." I said and they looked at each other before looking at me "we're looking for a friend of yours Eddie Munson, you seen him?" The officer asks me and I shrug "not since last night at D&D. Why? Is he in some kind of trouble?" I ask and they just look at each other before looking back at me "you understand hiding a criminal could put you in jail too, right?" He asks me and I nod my head "yes sir but that would imply that Eddie is a criminal and the guy wouldn't hurt a fly." I said and they nod their heads but still didn't move "well if that will be all I really have to get home now, good day officers." I said and walked past them and I could feel their eyes burn into the back of my skull. When I turned around the corner, I turned invisible because I could hear running in my direction. I stood still as the cops came in to inspect the alley and I backed away further "that girl knows something." The one officer said and the other agreed with him. When I got back, I turned visible again and the sun was high in the sky "sorry it took so long, the cops wouldn't budge" I said and he gave me a worried look "they kept asking where you were so I had to wait a while but I come bearing gifts" I said and showed him the bag of food and the six pack I brought "thanks." He said grabbing a beer and drinking it. The rest of the day was spent drinking and eating and before long the sun set and we were talking about D&D "so what class do you want to be?" He asks and I shrug "dwarf?" I ask him and he laughs "okay but I'm serious." He said and I thought about it "how about a dark wizard?" I ask him only to see the color on his face draining "I'm kidding." I said and he gives a slight chuckle "How about I pick one for you?" He asks and I sighed with relief "finally, I thought you'd never ask seeing as how I know nothing about this game." I said and he laughed "okay so you'll start at level one, for obvious reasons and you'll be a chaotic neutral dragonborn, you know an actual dragon, you're damage type will then be Lightning since your ancestry is based on a bronze dragon which means you are also resistant to Lightning based spells. I can totally see you as a sorcerer based on your dragon nature..." (A/N: to anyone that actually plays D&D... How'd I do?)"Cool, I think I got a picture of it in my head." I said "yeah it's exactly how I would describe you." He said as we looked into the blackness of night "wow, we were talking about D&D for so long I didn't even realize how late it was." I said and he nod his head in agreement. Then we heard a car and he looked at me scared and grabbed a bottle before breaking it "Tarp." I said and he nod his head and got under the tarp and I turned invisible and got out my Colt Python revolver that I used in the upside down as I backed away from the door. It opened a few minutes later and in came Dustin and a bunch of other people I didn't know and they looked all around before one of them grabbed an oar and hit the tarp that Eddie was under and after a few minutes Eddie jumped out of the boat and put the broken bottle to the guys throat as I turned visible and aimed my gun at the other people standing behind Eddie "Woah, woah Eddie stop! Stop" Dustin said and I aimed the gun at him "any closer and I shoot." I said and he backed away "Eddie it's me. It's Dustin. This is Steve. He's not gonna hurt you right Steve?" He asked and I looked at the him "right yeah." Steve whispered "Steve why don't you drop the oar?" Dustin asked and Steve dropped it but Eddie didn't budge and put the broken glass bottle deeper almost slicing his neck "He's cool, he's cool." Dustin said panicked "what are you doing here?" Eddie asked not looking away from Steve "we're looking for you." Dustin said "we're here to help." The girl behind Dustin said and Eddie looked at him slightly "Eddie, these are my friends. You know Robin, from band and this is my friend Max, the one who never wants to play D&D. Eddie we're on your side." He said but Eddie still didn't budge "I swear on my mother. Right guys?" He asked and the rest of the group agreed with him and I put my gun away and put my hand on Eddie's shoulder "it's okay Ed." I said and he took the bottle away from Steve's neck and gave me a hug "it's okay, I'm here." I said and he walked past me to sit on the one crate in the corner and I sat next to him as he took my hand and Dustin came over to us "Eddie, we just want to talk." Dustin said and tried to take the bottle away but Eddie gripped it tighter as the rest of the group came closer "okay." Dustin said and stopped them "we want to know what happened." Robin said kneeling in front of us and Eddie started to shake "you won't believe me." He said and I put my head on his shoulder "maybe they will Ed." I said and  looked at the group who nod their head in agreement. "Try us." Max said and I nod my head "If you so much as giggle I will shoot you." I warned and they all gulped "her body just like lifted up into the air and she just like hung there in the air and her bones uh..." He tried but was hesitant almost as if he wasn't sure what he saw and I held his hand in a comforting way. "Her bones started to snap. Her eyes, it was like there was something inside her head pulling. I- I didn't know what to do so I ran away. I left her there." He said looking completely mortified "If it wasn't for Alice, I might have been next." He said and they all looked at me "Eddie remember what I promised you, I won't let anything happen to you okay?" I ask him and he let a tear slip "it's okay Ed." I said putting my hand on his cheek and wiping his tears away. "You all think I'm crazy right?" He asks the group while looking away "no we don't think you're crazy." Dustin said. "Don't bullshit me man! I know how this sounds!" He said "we're not bullshitting you." Max said "We believe you." Robin concluded "say what now?" I ask "look what I'm about to tell you might be a little...Difficult to take." Dustin said and Eddie slowly nod his head "okay." He said softly "you know how people always say Hawkins is... Cursed" he said and me and Eddie both nod our heads "well they're not way off. There's another world. A world hidden beneath Hawkins. Sometimes it bleeds into ours." Dustin said and Eddie looked at me "like ghosts and shit?" He asks and I gave a slight chuckle "if only." I said and they all gave me strange looks "there are things... Worse than ghosts." Max said. "These monsters from this other world, we thought they were gone but they've come back before and that's why we needed to find you." Dustin said looking at both of us "if their back again, we need to know." Max said "That night, did you see anything?" Robin asked and Max spoke up "dark particles maybe?" She asked and Eddie shook his head "it would almost look like dust, swirling dust" Dustin tried but we both shook our heads "no man there was nothing you could see or uh... or touch." He said "you're not dealing with the mind flayer anymore." I said and they all looked at me surprised "how do you know about the mind flayer?" Dustin asked me and I sigh "because I have had to deal with the son of a bitch for 6 years." I said and Eddie spoke up "you know I tried to wake her man. She couldn't move. It was like she was in a trance or something" Eddie said looking down "or under a spell." Dustin said and we both looked at him "a curse." Eddie said and he and Dustin shared a look "Vecna's curse." Dustin said and I shrugged 'whatever that means.' I thought as they all shared a look "who's Vecna?" Steve asked and I rolled my eyes "An undead creature of great power." Dustin said "a spell caster." Eddie said "a dark wizard" Dustin said again and I concluded "a pain in my ass." I said and they all looked at me "what, why are you all staring at me like that? Aren't we listing things that describes Vecna?" I ask and Eddie looked at me "when you showed me all that stuff before I'll admit I thought I was crazy but now I think we're all crazy." He said and I smiled at him "wow you thought I was crazy? Shocked." I said as I put a hand on my heart "wait so you know about all this stuff too?" Dustin asked and I nod my head "yeah, I know all of Vecna's party tricks that's why in case you were wondering Eddie why I didn't react the same way you did to Chrissy. Because I have seen it more times than I can count. Hell, I was even a test subject for most of it" I said looking at him and the rest of the group all had gaping mouths. "So do you have super powers too?" Steve asked me and I nod my head "yeah." I said crossing my arms "can you show us?" Dustin asked me and I look at Eddie "I don't know, can I?" I ask him and he nods "okay then. Uhm let's see." I said thinking about what to do first. I focused on getting Steve off the ground and he started floating "woah." everyone said in amazement. "that's not all." I said and turned invisible before everyone looked back at me "where'd she go?" Dustin asked and I turned visible yet again "right here." I said waving my hand "and she can also open and close portals to the upside down." Eddie said "which I can't show you because I don't know if Vecna's monsters are watching. I got lucky when I showed it to Eddie." I said and they all had gaping mouths. They all left shortly after that and Eddie looked a little better now that he knows he's not seeing shit "So this other world you were trapped in, what's it like?" He asks me and I look out the window "uhm you know dark and scary. Pretty much every kid's worst nightmare. But if I survived for six years how bad could it be right?" I said with a laugh "were you scared?" He asks me and my face fell to one of terror almost on the verge of tears "terrified." I said and he stood up and came over to me giving me a hug "I'm sorry you had to go through that stuff alone. I promise I'll never let you go through that alone ever again." He said and I hugged back before we pulled away "god I haven't done this before." I said with a slight laugh wiping my tears away "what, crying?" He asks with a slight chuckle and I nod my head "there is no time to get emotional down there, you get emotional, you die." I said getting all serious and he nod his head "well it looks like we both have promises to keep now huh?" He asks and I smile at him "it looks that way." I said as we continued to watch the starry sky. "You should probably get some sleep." I said and nodded to the boat. "What about you?" He asks and I shrug "I'm fine." I said and he gave me a worried look "come on." He said and took my hand leading me to the boat "no Eddie I'm fine really." I said and he rolled his eyes "either you get in this boat with me or I pick you up and throw you in." He said and I rolled my eyes before getting in the boat. "Happy?" I ask and he gives me a goofy grin "very." He said and pulled me on top of him "woah!" I said as I fell on him. "Get some sleep princess." He said and my cheeks turned bright red and I smiled "I'll try. Goodnight, Ed." I said and snuggled up to him "goodnight princess." He said.
