Will was very wise, many of his friends were to call him "Will the Wise" but one night in 1983 was nothing Will could control.

"Have a good night" Layla said with a pasted on beaming smile to what had been the last customer that night. Her facial expression dropped as soon as the lady turned her back. It wasn't ideal for her to be working at a coffee shop when she didn't even enjoy it, or even the smell of it. But she busted her ass off for 6 hours a day just to help her mom out with the bills.

Layla threw her apron in her cubby "Who needs coffee THIS late? I seriously don't get it" she said looking up at Robin who wasn't even paying attention. She threw her belongings that had been taken out of her bag throughout the day back into the bag.

"Hello? Robin! Earth to Robin!" She said waving her hands in Robins face. "Right yeah, sorry sorry, I'm tired" Robin said focusing on Layla now. Layla rolled her eyes

Layla groaned as she heard the door of the shop ding notifying her that someone was there. "Shit really?" she said walking back out behind the register Robin following "and what are you doing here at" Robin paused to look at her watch "7pm" she said continuing

Steve smirked "I'm just here to see my two favorite ladies" Layla raised a brow "Hey cut the crap what do you want?"

Steve gasped "Wow lovely customer service!" he said sarcastically "Oh I'm sorry" Layla said walking into the back room to grab her apron. She walked out tying it with a huge fake smile on her face "Hey! How are you? What can I get for you today!" She said staring right at him.

Steve winked "that's more like it! I'll take a cold brew? Or whatever that's called" Robin laughed "you sound like a basic-" well that was when Nancy walked through the door "that explains it" Robin mumbled as Layla was making the drink.

"What's taking so long I need to be home soon" Nancy wined. Layla rolled her eyes, no one could see her as she was facing away from them. Nancy and her had never truly had a conversation all she knew of her is that she was Steve Harringtons girlfriend and supposedly nice, which had confused Layla as to why Nancy would date a douscebag like Steve.

"Here you go. Goodnight." Layla said placing the drink on the counter and going back into the backroom taking off her apron yet again.

"I'll see you at school tomorrow!" Layla said before getting into her car. The drive home was quite far for her, it was around 30 minutes as her trailer was on the opposite side of town. Though she never dreaded the drive home, to her it was quite peaceful when she rolled her windows down and enjoyed the fresh breeze and simply how quite it was.

Mornings had always been hectic for the Byers, they were always ones to go to sleep late and wake up early. No one was ever quite prepared. Having to get ready and going before the sun was even up was a struggle.
