"hey uh," eddie said, "where'd the clock come from?"

"what?" mike asked.

"right there," eddie pointed at nothing.

"oh shit," mike said under his breath, richie looked at him, confusion written on his face.

"what do you mean 'oh shit'?" richie asked.

"nothing. eddie, there's no clock there." mike said, eddie blinked and just like mike said, nothing was there.

"that's fucking weird." richie said.

after the d&d campaign, the toziers and eddie decide to go to the wheeler's house, sonia saying that she doesn't want to stay here so she left.

"there's some space in my basement, big enough for you and eddie. mrs. and mr. tozier, we have a spare bedroom for you, just down the hall from my mom's room." mike said.

"thank you mike," maggie said. "and please, we're family you can call me maggie. mrs. tozier feels too formal." she said with a smile.

"thanks man," eddie said.

"hey, eddie how'd you break your arm?" mike asks.

"eds here broke his arm falling," richie said, putting his arm around his shoulder.

"don't call me that," eddie said. "my name's eddie."

"oh, hope it heels well." mike said.

"well, let's go to our room, roommate." richie grabbed the wrist of eddie's good arm and walked with him to the basement.

"i can't believe my mom let me stay here while she goes back to maine." eddie said in disbelief.

"yeah, i can't believe that i have to go back to maine to fuck her." richie joked.

"that's fucking disgusting."

"that's not what she said last night." eddie rolls his eyes playfully. it doesn't matter how many 'your mom' jokes he makes, he still loves him. as a friend of course.

a comfortable silence fell upon them, but one thing richie doesn't really like is silence, so he breaks it.

"hey, eds," richie whispers.

"not my name," eddie sighs, "but, yeah? what is it rich?"

"are you actually not gay?"

"what?" eddie asks, furrowing his brows in confusion.

"at the airport, when my cousin asked if we were together and you said 'no, no, i'm not gay', did you really mean it?"

"yeah, i did. i'm not gay."

"oh, okay," richie says, disappointment prominent in his voice.

"why'd you ask?"

richie thinks this is the time to tell him, he'll play it off as a joke and his feelings won't be at hurt as if he were to confess and eddie take it seriously. so he smiles and does it.

"well, because eds, i been in love wit ya since we met," richie says in a really bad fake southern accent. "i always thought you were really cute." richie pinches eddies cheek.

"beep beep richie," eddie says, and the smile that was on richies face fades.

that was so stupid, i'm so stupid. he'll never like me back what was i thinking?

"well, goodnight richie," eddie says, laying down in the pull-out bed in mikes basement.

"'night eds," richie says, laying down beside him.
