after eddie left, richie spent more tike with the party, getting closer to all of them. he missed his germaphobe best friend.

sometimes, though, company can be too much. he misses home, he misses his friends, he misses everything. mostly he missed his eddie.

the eddie who agreed to move to hawkins with him, he eddie who got possessed by vecna, the eddie who richie fell in love with, the eddie who lived with him, the eddie who made richie feel less alone.

the eddie who left.

he can't hate him, how could he? he just simply despises how things ended.

richie's entire existence always revoled around a pill-popping loser that he's loved since forever. however, he felt as if in a single moment, a few words changed the lived of two high schoolers forever.

richie wonders if he'll ever see that boy again. he wonders that if they do see each other, would they still be the same? or would it be too late.

music always helps richie thought. i'll just put on music.

he put on an old mixtape with 50s songs, he doesn't really know what songs they are. the tape isn't his, it's his cousins.

just to his luck, eddie my love came on.

eddie my love, i love you so
eddie my love, i love you so
how i've wanted for you, you'll never know
please, eddie, don't make me wait too long

oh, eddie, eddie, i love you so
eddie, please, write just one line
tell me your love is still only mine
please, eddie don't make me wait too long

the music filled the room. the next few lines hit richie like a train.

you left me last september
since that time i've been so alone
now, all i do is wish and wait for you
eddie, since you've been gone

eddie my love, i'm sinking fast
the very next day might be my last
please, eddie, don't make me wait too long

oh, eddie, eddie, i love you so
eddie my love
oh, eddie, eddie, i love you so
eddie my love, i love you so

when the song faded out, richie took out the tape, not wanting to listen to anymore music. the song brought back way too many memories. he broke down. that's something that he's been doing more of. in the middle of his crying session, he jumped as the phone started to ring.

he shakily got up to answer it.

"hello?" he said in the phone, his voice shaking.

"hey rich," stan said on the other end of the phone.

"how are you?" richie asked, voice still quivering.

"i'm alright," you could hear the smile in stan's voice. "how are you?"

"i'm okay."

stan knows when someone is lying. richie is lying.

"what's wrong?" stan asked.

"it's nothing stan my man. i love you."

"rich my bitch, i love you too but you can't lie to me, you know this."

"you-" richie interrupted himself by sniffling. "you wouldn't understand, stanny. hey, i gotta go. i'll talk to you tomorrow, yeah?"

"okay," you could hear the sigh coming out of stans mouth. "talk to you later, rich. stay safe."

"stay safe."

it's a ritual. telling the losers to "stay safe" is something they would always do before hanging up the phone. especially after pennywise.

when the line went dead, richie sighed, falling backwards onto his bed.

he misses eddie.
