KEEFE

I was so nervous when she was asking whether this was or wasn't a date, I'd sort of intentionally done my best to not pressure her into a full-on date because we don't really know each other that well considering I think the only time we'd ever had a conversation was literally like two days ago.

I was so happy when she said she wanted it to be a date though, I really liked her, and Fitz had even given me the go-ahead, I knew they were dating at some point and it ended sort of messy—Fitz hadn't really told me much about it but it was his and Sophie's business, not my place to pry.

I'm pretty sure Fitz doesn't like her anymore, but he didn't sound happy when I told him I liked her, I think maybe he was a little jealous but sometimes Fitz can be moody about random things, chances are, it's just a case of that.

Sophie was at least ten times better than me at water ping pong, good enough to make me a little jealous too.

She was awesome, she was fun but not in a trying too hard way, she was witty but not in a mean way like some people often can be and she had a great sense of humour—something I can definitely appreciate.

We were in the water for a while and eventually went to get ice cream, she got cookies and cream and I got chocolate, both good choices, but I might be a little biased.

We were now just in line for the roller coaster that had been set up on the beach, it looked terrifying therefore it was perfect. I loved roller coasters and apparently, Sophie had never been on one. I just really hoped she wouldn't barf.

After a while of waiting, we finally got to the platform where you got on and off the little carts. Each carried two people—perfect.

We both got in, "If you're going to barf, don't do it forwards it'll come right back at you, do it backwards onto the people behind us and then get out quick enough after that they can't find you."

"Wow, real reassuring Keefe."

"Just for you Foster," I said with a joking tone but it came out more serious than I meant it.

The ride started and Sophie gripped my arm and screamed loud enough there was a good enough chance I'd be dead once we got off the ride. Her hair whipped in my face.

The ride came to a shuddering stop. Luckily Sophie did not vomit as I did on my first time on a roller coaster, which went directly onto an old lady and her grandchild.

ooo

SOPHIE

It was maybe five thirty, Keefe and I decided to go to a restaurant for dinner, which was fine by me, there was a pair of Bears that needed to be rehomed but couldn't stop going at it long enough for them to be separated. Easy to say, Grady wasn't going to be home for a while and Edaline was out shopping with friends.

We were just looking through the menu when the server came back with our drinks, "Hi, are you guys ready to order?"

"I think so?" I asked looking at Keefe.

"I'll take a cheeseburger with a side of fries."

"I'll get chicken fingers with fries," I said. I don't care what other people say, you don't get too old for chicken fingers.

"Actually that's only on the kid's menu."

"Actually I'm five," I said holding eye contact with the server.

"Y'know what, sure, fine, I don't get paid enough for this." The server said and walked away.

We talked and laughed as the food arrived, the sun had begun to set which cast warm hues across the sky. "Did you know I'm actually like an expert at identifying birds?" Keefe asked.

That's such a random skill, "Really? What bird is that?" I said pointing to a red-winged black bird.

"A bird," He answered, "See I'm amazing at this."

"Well, you're certainly something." I laughed.

He nodded in agreement, "And that one right there is a dog." He noted while pointing to a dog.

"Interesting—"

Our food had just arrived, and our server set down my chicken fingers and his burger on the table.

All throughout dinner we both had a great time, I didn't really want to leave, but it had started getting late and Edaline wanted me home.

I'd texted Biana asking if she could pick me up, "Well this has been a lot of fun," I said, "Maybe we could do it again sometime?"

"Definitely Foster, definitely. I'll text you."

Biana honked, "Cool! Bye!" I said as I got in the passenger seat.

Once we were out of earshot of the blonde I'd spent literal hours with, Biana started bombarding me with questions. "What was it like? Where'd you go for dinner? Did you see his abs?"

"Okay, yes it was amazing, I'll tell you all about it later, and we went to this dinner place on the beach, Dave's I think?" The last question I didn't even bother to answer.
