jay swerved towards the pavement, stopping the car so suddenly that it forced ni-ki and sunghoon's bodies to hit the side of the car. jay gripped the steering wheel so tightly that his hands were visibly turning red.
"don't kid with me right now," he said seriously with an angry tone laced in his voice once he had stopped. he was panting as well as the phone continued to ring. ni-ki shook his head and insisted he was telling the truth.
"hyung, i'm serious. i wouldn't lie about this, honest!" he reached in front and showed jay the phone enthusiastically. "look. it's jungwon."
jay wanted to curse. god really wasn't doing much for him and his timing, was he?
just as he was about to move on jungwon had to call to bring that huge monster wave of emotions crashing back in. he was SERIOUSLY not ready for this.
he was beyond terrified to know what he'd hear when he picked up. surely jungwon wouldn't call him again just to chew at him and give him shit for everything after the huge fiasco, right? part of jay was less worried about what he'd say exactly, he knows what he did wrong, he just didn't want to hear jungwon sad and angry again because his heart couldn't take it. and he couldn't take the reminder that jungwon didn't want anything to do with him anymore and that he couldn't make it up to him.
but...the sliver of hope couldn't help but arise in jay's mind. there could be the chance that he was calling to make up, right? he felt absolutely delusional for having that kind of positivity after all the things he had done, but...he'd never know what jungwon wanted until he picked up.
hell, despite everything and the promise he'd move on with his life a better person, he just wanted to hear jungwon's voice again, and he'd probably pay anything he could just to hear it once more after that. jay missed him more than words could describe.
but guilt could not bring him to answer the phone himself. so in his desperateness to hear jungwon's sweet voice again, he breathed in deeply and asked sunghoon to do it for him.
