Lance's POV

"Today's the day!"
"The day Voltron will succeed!" "The day the universe will remember!" "The day we defect the Galra empire!"
The princess earlier words replay over and over in my mind.

"Today we face off Zarkon in battle to the end!" Allura practically radiated determination and power.

'I wonder where that all went?'

Panic is all I hear through the com's, as I watch in fear as lion by lion shut down and drop to a deserted planet near us.

"Okay paladins we need to participate in combat since our lion's are down" Allura states trying to take control of the situation.

"Princess we'll be died as soon as step out of or lion's!" Hunk gasped out in fear, "We'll be died even if we stay here Hunk!" Keith snapped fear and anger blinding him.

"These are our lives we're gambling with, I say we go out there and put up one hell of a fight! Rather than die here not trying!" Pidge says hyped up and clearly ready to beat some Galra butt, "Hell yeah!" I comply.

"I agree with Pidge and Lance, we might win who knows? We can't just stay here" Shiro says just about ready to jump into battle.

"It settled we're going out" Pidge says being the first to jump out.

Time skip near end of the battle ('cause I suck hard at writing action shit)

I was laying on a high cliff with my team fighting under me, while I was sniping down any approaching danger.

Looking around to see if I had not missed any sentries, which I had not. We were just about to win when Haggar appeared behind me, "Stupid Voltron paladins deciding to ruin a years worth of planning" she snarls at me, "We were planning on doing more but it's whatever" I replied after quicky collecting myself and getting up. Turning my bayard into a rifle I smirked pointing it at her.

Giving her no time to react I pull the trigger. A ray shot out, but missed her as she teleported to the side, "What do you think your weak weapons could do against me?" She hissed out in my opinion sounding very cocky and believe me I know what cocky sounds like.

I roll my eyes, but soon that turned to me screaming as a black lightning hit me.
I felt what might have been a 100 volts coursing through my body. My shaking hands not being able to hold the weight of the rifle causing it to fall onto the ground.

To my dismay my body crumbles under me, black dots start to invade my vision telling I'm closer to being unconscious, my ears ringing but all I hear is distant screaming 'Is that me?' I have no time to ponder it as the lightning stops, looking up in question my vision clearing a bit I see Keith standing over an unconscious looking Haggar.

"Come on, dumbass" he says offering me a hand up which I gratefully took, "Thank you, mullet" my voice parched from the screaming, but I have never been so sincere.

As I was picking up my rifle I saw Haggar getting up, "Shit! Keith watch-!" I tried to warn him but I was too late she had already fired her black lightning. Out of panic I pushed Keith out of the way.

Was it me, but did it hurt more than last time or is it just because my body is weaker than before. Out of the corner of my eye I see that Keith had gotten up and was holding my rifle pointing it at Haggar.

Halfway through trying to hang on to consciousness I loss my footing causing me to stumble backwards

'Oh, we're on a cliff'

The last thing I see is Keith shooting Haggar, before I am falling to my demise. My back to the ground as I looked up at the sky seemingly for the last time before I close my eyes. My body going limp from being weakened making the air carry me causing it to feel as if I was flying, but I couldn't escape gravity.

My shoulders which normally felt heavy from the burdens placed on them, felt light for the first time in forever, 'No wonder birds like flying.'

The ground become closer and closer, 'This took longer than I expected' this was my last thought before my body collided with the ground making a mess, I felt blood seep through my body mixing with the soil.

"Lance!" I'm guessing Keith ran down here, "Fuck! Lance hang on I'll- I'll get help!" Even if I'm dying I could see the fear brewing inside of eyes, tears threating to spill and stain his flawless pale skin.

"K-keith," I wheeze out, blood rushing to my lungs clogging my air ways making me cough violently, "You k-know I w-won't make it" I say accepting my destiny.

"No! Don't- don't say that!" He begs finally letting his tears spill as he held me in his arms,"Don't cry" I say bringing a shaky hand and wiping away his tears, he leans into my touch more tears making their way down his face.

I let a smile make its way onto my face, "Hey, save the universe for me" I managed to say before my consciousness fully slipped away from my grasp.

Third person's POV

"Lance!" "LANCE!" Keith's desperate voice broke the silence, the metallic smell of blood filled the air, "Lance..." he begged this was Keith's final attempt to wake up his teammate, his companion, his friend.

He rested his head in the crook of Lance's neck taking in the smell of the shampoo he had once prided himself with, which was now dented with the smell of blood.

"Please don't leave me here," his tears made their way down his face onto the limp body he cradled in his arms. Subconsciously making them have another bonding moment which Lance will never know of.

Timeskip three days later

Third person's POV

Lance's funeral was held on earth because that is what he would of wanted, to be surrounded by his family and his friends while they lower him into the ground.

This day the entire universe grieved for the hero they had lost.
