『 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐘 𝐃𝐎𝐕𝐄 』
( 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 )
When Odin initially banished Hela the Goddess of Death, Eir the Goddess of Healing vocally disagreed with her father in the privacy of the family chambers of the palace of Asgard. She knew her older sister had to be stopped, but she disagreed with the method Odin chose in which to stop his daughter. Her and Hela never got on, Hela was kept out of the secret of Eir being Odin's second born and he had her raised in Lyfjaberg amongst the Valkyrie. Eir tried to see the good in her older half-sister, but the wolfish grin she constantly sported made Eir uneasy.
Being raised amongst the Valkyrie, Eir saw and understood war. She knew men and women alike displayed grand acts of strength, loyalty, and valour in war. That war was inevitable and necessary in some cases, however there was a difference in needed war and unnecessary war.
Hela thrived in unnecessary war, in war purely for her own gain. In the ugly side of war, Eir knew wars could be ugly and dirty, but in many cases, war could also be noble and graceful. She knew war created heroes and villains, and her sister sadly fell to the villain side of the coin.
Eir knew that with the good, came the bad. With the light, came the darkness and that all beauty could come with the ugly. However, she chose to try and see the good in life.
She saw it every day.
She saw good in her younger brother, Balder constantly. She knew he was truly good, and she truly did try and see the good in Hela. She knew her sister was misguided due to how Odin raised her, but she was also truly of the belief that there was more to accomplish. And Eir knew, her sister would not stop until she had conquered everything.
For that reason alone, Eir knew she would be going to battle. Both physical, and through her decisions of who to save out of her fallen sisters expecting nothing but bloodshed.
The blonde knew with this battle, she'd be walking into a massacre she only hoped that there would be more survivors than fallen warriors.
Before she made her way back to Lyfjaberg to prepare for the fight ahead, Eir made her way to her mother's chambers where she knew her mother, and two brothers would be. "Sister," Balder called as he spotted his older sister and barrelled into her open arms for a much need hug.
Eir kissed her brother's temple and allowed her senses to be overwhelmed by the chamber. The sound of one year old Thor in their mothers arms nursing, of Frigga's steady heartbeat of the sound of her family.
"The time has come," Eir muttered regretfully towards her stepmother, "father has made the decision Hela is too be stopped, no matter the cost" she said lowly so only her mother heard. Balder sat in a chair overlooking the grounds holding Thor in his arms, having taken to being an older brother easily.
Frigga took a deep breath, "I hoped the day wouldn't come. Despite all she has done, Hela is still my daughter" the wisest person Eir knew said softly and Eir could sense her mother's guilt, so the blonde gently took her hand and squeezed softly.
Eir understood what was going through Frigga's mind, despite all that Hela had done Frigga still saw the child Hela was once upon a time, despite the fact Frigga didn't birth either Hela or Eir she still treated them as she did her own blood. She still treated both, how she treated Balder and Thor. And Eir knew that the thought of what will needed to be done to stop Hela, was breaking Frigga's gentle heart and soul.
"She was a mischievous little one, always sneaking into lower Asgard. Befriending any animal, no matter the species. Many a time she tried to sneak in a pet Pegasus into the stables or a winged serpent into her chambers. Her laughter filled the halls, but then" Frigga began clearly thinking of the little girl Hela once was, "then your father started getting his ideas. Wanting to prove something to the people, that he was better than your grandfather and he enlisted Hela in his quest. He lost his sight of Hela, his daughter and saw her more as an object. The Goddess of Death, he needed the Goddess of Death more than a daughter."
She sighed regretfully and took Eir's hands into a hold, "as much as I wish she wasn't, that little girl is gone. And I can't see a way to get her back, do what you must to protect everyone. But most importantly, keep yourself safe daughter. I don't want to lose two of my children in one day," she whispered the last part seeing her son making his way over with Thor in his arms.
Eir easily took Thor into her arms, a gentle stroke of her forefinger down his cheek caused his eyes to flutter open and Eir was met with the innocent eyes of her baby brother, and a soft giggle as his fingers wrapped around hers.
She felt Balder climb up and position himself between herself and Frigga easily wrapping an arm around him, pulling the young God of Light in a side hug. "I'll be safe mother, I promise."
