Pip's perspective
"Please tell me if you need me, Damien. I'll be here for you" He didn't seem to hear me. Perhaps he just needed space. He said not to worry about him, but I couldn't help it. He looked so horrified in his sleep. I've never seen him like that before."Hiya, Pip!" Another voice called out to me. It was Butters. I remembered him quite well, he was very kind to me. We became friends at Mr Mackey's meteor shower party. "Hello, Butters. It's wonderful seeing you again"
"Aww, it's great seeing you too!" Butters pulled me into a tight hug. I hugged him back, although I was a bit surprised. I wasn't quite used to being hugged like this, but it was lovely. "What happened? We all thought you were dead"
"Oh, well I was. I mean, I was for quite a bit, but Damien saved me" His eyes seemed to widen a bit at this. "Well, gee.. uh, that's awfully kind of him! But I gotta tell you, you should probably be looking out for Eric. He's been acting a little weird, ya know, about you being back and all. He even accused you of being a zombie, o-or something.."
My eyes darted to the floor as I sighed. "I can't say I'm surprised" A silence rose between us for a moment, until I spoke again. "What will you tell him?"
"I don't know," Butters lowered his head and brought his knees up to his chest, almost as if he was trying to appear smaller. His face was filled with worry. "I just don't wanna make him mad at me. I always make him mad at me, and it never ends well"
There was an unsteadiness in his voice, and I remember some of the things Eric had done to him in the past. He didn't deserve to be used like this by anyone, and it was quite upsetting to know what Eric was putting him through. I opened my mouth to say something, but he spoke before me. "Just don't let him do anything to you. I'd hate to see him hurt you again"
"I won't let him hurt me" I spoke assuringly. I recalled some of the ways he's hurt me before as well, and I wasn't going to let him do that to me again. "Please promise you'll try to stay safe as well"
"I'll try my best" His bottom lip appeared to tremble, as if he was about to start crying. I couldn't quite imagine how scared Butters must have been. I could tell Eric has put him through so much. "I'll be here for you. If there's anything I may do to help, please tell me"
Butters rubbed at his eyes a bit. "Aww Pip, you're so kind. How did I get so lucky to have a friend like you?" He shook his head. His body was trembling. "I'll be fine, don't worry. I've always ended up fine before. But it's been so long since I've seen you. I wanna catch up, if that's okay"
"That would be wonderful" I smiled. There was a hint of excitement in my voice.
"That's great, Pip! That really is. So, how have you and Damien been?" His face was filled with curiosity. "I've been quite alright. It's been a bit of an adjustment being back, but I'm glad to be here. And I'm a bit worried about Damien, it seems as if he just had a bad nightmare"
"Well, gee, I'm really sorry to hear that. Do you know what the nightmare was about?" I shook my head. "He didn't tell me, although I do plan on checking in on him in a bit. Perhaps he'll be comfortable telling me then"
"That's good. I hope he's ok. I can tell you really care about him" My face felt warmer after he said that. He was right, I did really care about him. He meant the world to me. Butters giggled and attempted to speak, but before he could there was an angry voice calling out to him. He flinched, standing up in a heartbeat. "I gotta go. I'll see ya later, okay?" Before I could say anything, he rushed back inside.
