Hours passed as Nate continued to watch Tori's transformation in a mixture of awe and fear. He watched as the Iredescent n-r element and blood took over, making her skin sparkly. Every scratch, every slight imperfection was forever taken away. Her skin would be as perfect as a newborn baby's skin, smooth and unblemished.
The cylinder clouded about eighteen hours in, giving Nate the feeling as though he were trying to peer through a steamy shower curtain. He didn't leave the room, waiting for the entire process to be complete. He felt anxiousness wear at him the longer he waited, but he continued to wait, not wanting to mess up the process in the slightest way.
As predicted, it took an entire day for a human to turn into an Iredescent. Nate pushed and pulled the levers, deactivated the cables, flipped the switches, pressed a button that allowed the cylinder to open, and stepped back from the cylinder with Tori in his arms. He already had a bed ready for Tori and went over to place her on it. The bed was white with white sheets and pillows, adding on to Tori's angelic look. Her wings were wrapped around her, covering her like a taco shell. Her eyes were closed as she lay unconscious. Her loose blonde hair fanned out behind her head. She was naked underneath her wing blanket, her body glistening as if it were made of diamonds.
Nate stared at her, taken aback with complete astonishment. The first human to become an alternative kind of human, Tori was now an Iredescent lifeform with a beauty that was truly out of this world. Every part of her sparkled and looked flawless. When Tori opened her eyes five hours later, they were a rich deep chocolate brown with sparkles in them.
"You look like you're made of Swarovski crystals," Nate remarked as Tori began to sit up after waking up, her wings unfolding and dropping to her sides. She was dripping in silvery glitter, her entire being sparkling brilliantly.
Tori stared at herself, admiring her new body as it sparkled. Her skin was perfect, as if she had bathed in a mixture of argan and rosehip oil. My wings look tainted, she realized as she looked at her wings for the first time, slightly disappointed they weren't as pure white as she always wanted them to be. Her wings were mostly white, but with the look of a cloudy sky about to rain. It was a greyish white color, marvelous but not pure white. She wondered why they turned out that way, eventually concluding that the n-r element knew more about her than she could ever know about herself. Nevertheless, she felt very happy and elated just to finally have wings.
Nate handed her some clothes to put on. Tori put on a white long sleeve shirt and light blue jeans after putting on undergarments first. She went over to a mirror and looked at herself, taking in everything and feeling like she was reborn. Her wings were like a natural part of her, the same as her arms or legs. They were huge and loomed behind her like a foggy cloud, heavier than her weight, yet they dematerialized with just a thought. It was a wonderful feeling, one that surrounded her like clouds.
"How are you gonna hide all that shimmer?" Nate asked her. "You weren't planning on showing yourself like that to the world, are you?"
"Not yet," said Tori, speaking for the first time as an Iredescent. "But they will know that I am the first human to ever become an Iredescent."
Tori went over to the bathroom where there was a floor to ceiling length mirror. She put her hair up in a bun, holding it up with both hands while staring at herself in amazement. Her skin was flawless perfection. Her shimmer was gorgeous. Even her eyesight, hearing, and all five senses were maxed above superhuman levels. Her eyes caught even the tiniest bits of detail, from the little specks of dust twirling in the slanted sunlight to the tiny carpet fibers on the rug she stood on.
Nate stood beside her, staring at her in utter amazement. Tori let down her hair and put an arm around Nate's shoulder as she let out a relaxed breath, looking at both their reflections in the mirror. "Life is so perfect right now," she murmured. Nate looked a little unsure, still trying to get used to Tori's new look. Tori smiled, turning to kiss Nate on the cheek. "Let's have some fun!"
