Nate's charred remains lay among the smoldering ashes. The log cabin completely burnt to the ground, leaving nothing behind. The moonless night felt cold and bleak, despairing as if it too mourned Nate's death.

Tori's face was encased in shadow, the light barely touching her shoulders as she looked down at the tragedy that left her broken and numb. Her wings were lowered, turning grey in the dimming light. Her white thermal top and slim skinny fit dark blue jeans were hardly visible in the almost complete darkness, barely any light shining in the still night, as if all light had evacuated along with all the joy Tori once had. Sorrow embraced Tori as the darkness held her close, promising its presence as the light continued to drift farther away. Grief tore at her as she wept, dropping to her knees as she let loose her anguished sobs. The mountains echoed with the sound of her loss.

After what seemed like an eternity of crying, Tori rose, her wings stretched out behind her. Her eyes lifted upward, a certain look in them reflecting what was to come. The last of the light of day vanished into the darkness of the night, distinguished like the embers laid to rest underneath.

There was nothing marked where Tori's happiness lay buried, where the last of her salty tears kissed the wonderful memories goodbye. Tori would forever know the spot where Nate was buried, wanting to keep it to herself as she allowed Nate to rest in the same spot he died.

Tori stepped out into the snow, walking slowly as snow fell around her. A determined look appeared in her eyes, almost as fierce as the fire had been. Her wings spread out in her irangel glory, a stunning view against the snowy white canvas with the mountains in the distance.

She flew high in the sky, hovering above the spot where Nate had died unaware. Tori surveyed it for a moment, then lifted her head and gazed towards the direction of the glass building. A certain resolve shone as she flew even higher, overseeing her mansion and a German castle somewhere in the distance.

It was an incredible view, one Tori loved, but she was unable to fully enjoy it, too heartbroken over her loss. Her thoughts were swirling like a snowstorm, her demeanor was as cold as the mountains, her emotions like ice on fire, and her devastation ran like an avalanche. Reason flew out the window like the glass shards had when the windows of the log cabin burst. Like fire had consumed the log cabin and Nate, grief consumed Tori.
