Leanne slowly stirred with a sigh.
Her eyes slowly fluttered open but she paused when she noticed that her vision was blurry.
Someone stood over her, but she couldn't tell who it was. She squinted, hoping that it would help her, but she frowned when she still couldn't make out who it was.
"Are you alright?" Brian asked softly. "You're giving me a weird look."
"M-My vision is really blurry."
As she sat up, her head started spinning. No, it wasn't just her. The entire room was spinning. She hesitantly tried to stand, but the spinning got so fast that someone had to catch her as she collapsed.
"Are you alright?!" Lonnie asked.
She slowly shook her head. "I'm so dizzy. And I... I can't see anything clearly."
"Okay. Sit down and take it easy." Brian whispered.
Leanne slowly nodded as she sunk down to sit on the floor. She was panicking, trying to piece things together. What the hell could have happened to her while she was asleep that she felt so awful now?! Did Xkmotg do something to her?!
This was only making Leanne's sense of hopelessnesss grow.
How were they supposed to get out of there when she couldn't see and Stefanie was weak from getting a bunch of blood drawn?! Lonnie and Hruyyus were traumatized from the death of Charity and Jared had snapped from losing Kassidy!
They would never make it out. She knew it.
"Why does this keep getting worse and worse? She whispered.
Brian sighed. "We'll get something figured out."
"No we won't."
"Seriously, why do you keep talking like that?!"
"Look at the situation we're in! I'm too dizzy to even stand! Stefanie can't walk! Jared has snapped and keeps talking to his dead sister! Do you truly think we could find a way out of this?"
"Yeah, I do." Brian whispered. "I refuse to give up here. I refuse to let that bitch win."
"You really think we can escape?"
"Of course I do."
"You're delusional."
"Or maybe you're just not seeing enough of the big picture yet." Brian answered.
She shook her head. "Stop trying to give me false hope."
"We can do this."
Leanne frowned. Of course she wanted to believe Brian, she had never wanted anything more than to even be able to believe him. She had so much more she wanted to achieve.
But she wasn't one to be an optimist when the odds were clearly stacked against him.
"He's right." Hruyyus whispered. "We'll be able to figure something out."
"Wait a minute." Jared said softly. "There's a loose brick over here."
"Wait, what?" Hruyyus asked.
There was a heavy silence looming between them before Jared let out a victorious laugh. "There's a key behind here!"
"Wait, really?!" Stefanie asked.
They were silent again before Leanne heard a cell door swing open.
"Let's get out of here!" Brian said excitedly.
