-Has to deal with the loss, grief etc of people he has met in the time-zones.
-Has the ability to look into people's pasts and futures.
-Has to keep his pocket watch with him at all times.
-His memory book has valuable information in it so Karl keeps it with him, in a safe or in an ender chest.
