Meredith sat down at the small table on the decking of their house. She glanced at the table to make sure that she had everything she needed, photographs, pen, glue, scissors and most importantly the correct photo albums.

As she carefully entered the date on the first of the albums she realised that that she and Derek had been married for five years, five months and five days, and to top it all off she was five months pregnant. She smiled as she felt the baby kicking and lifted the chosen photographs.

After their wedding they had both decided to make a photo album of them as a couple and then as a family. It started with the few photographs that were taken the first summer that Meredith had visited the park, namely the one of them both at the top of the Grinnell Glacier and Dawson Pass. They were followed by photographs of them both dressed in their Park Ranger uniforms and at the official opening of the three hotels. There was a photograph of Meredith pregnant with their first child and then one of them both holding Megan Carolyn Shepherd a few hours after she had been born.

Meredith smiled as she remembered her first pregnancy. The last of the hotels had finally opened and it was only when leaving the opening party that she had told Derek that she thought she was pregnant. He held her hand the following morning when she finally had the courage to look at the result of the pregnancy test and they had both cried when they saw the word "pregnant". The pregnancy had been a joy, no morning sickness, no mood swings, just a very worried father to be.

However Megan's entrance to the world did not go according to plan...

Meredith was nine days overdue when a storm had hit the park, trees were down, some of the rivers had burst their banks and only certain places had electricity. Thankfully Derek had not left her side all day and when her contractions started he was right beside her.

"Why don't you lie down?" Derek asked Meredith as he rubbed her back as another contraction hit.

"It's easier if I stand," Meredith replied once the contraction had finished. "Where is your sister?"

"Stuck in a flooded East Glacier... with Alex," Derek sighed as he checked his cell phone again.

"Typical the one time I really need a doctor," Meredith laughed as she leaned against the back of the sofa.

"Mom is stranded in Whitefish. We are our own Meredith," Derek replied as he ran his hands through his hair and willing himself to stay calm.

"We're going to be fine," Meredith smiled trying to remain positive "Amelia will make it in time... and oh crap..."

"What..." Derek practically as he saw double over as another contraction hit "Okay that was less than five minutes..."

"Oh well done Einstein," Meredith yelled back "Sorry."

"Don't be. I'm going to try Amelia again," Derek said as he lifted his cell phone and hit speed dial.

"Derek, calm down I'm in a jeep and I'll be there as soon as I can," Amelia said down the phone.

"Calm down, the contractions are less than five minutes apart!" Derek screeched down the phone.

"Oh stop over reacting Derek Shepherd, I'm on my way..." Amelia shouted back.

"Oh crap..." Meredith muttered while Derek froze.

"Derek? Was that Meredith?" Amelia asked.

"Amelia, her water just broke..."

"Okay Derek, deep breath you are going to do exactly what I tell to do..."

Derek disconnected the call, helped Meredith to lie down on the floor and quickly washed his hands and grabbed the clean towels; there was no time to panic as he returned to Meredith's side.
