I didn't get a chance to apologize since by morning we had already arrived at the island.
"Alright guys finding The Gem will take some time to do , so split up into pairs and let's look for it", Raven said.
I saw Luke looking at me so I quickly turned to Nigel and said, "Let's be partners ".
He nodded and Like glared at him. We then went off in different directions. We came across a cave first.
"So according to Raven there are six gems but only one of them is real ",I said and walked in with Nigel behind it.
It was dark and wet with droplets of water dripping on our heads. I took out the copy of the map Ryan gave me before we got here and opened it and followed the route.
It took us to a stream of water. And it turned out we will have to cross it.
"It's not that deep , we can do it", I said and walked in .
And I regretted it immediately, the water was freezing cold. I tried to get out but there was something pulling me away from land. That's when I realized the water was rising but it didn't flood out it just rised around me.
"Nigel do something!", I yelled as I tried swimming which was useless.
He ran forward , grabbed my arm and tried pulling me out but it didn't work .
"Magic ! Remember what Raven said only magic helps!", I said.
"Right",he said and three seconds later the water was frozen and so was I.
I summoned a small fire which made the ice near me melt I started walking towards the other side melting the ice on my way. I made a path wide enough for Nigel to come to the other side too.
Once we reached land we kept walking but this time there were huge rocks blocking our way.
"We're really close, all we have to do is get past these ", I said looking at the map.
"Yeah that's gonna be hard",Nigel said staring at the rocks.
"We could climb them or use magic to move them aside",I said.
"Climbing is kinda dangerous and we only learned to move small objects like books and stuff not enormous rocks" Nigel said walking closer to them.
"We have to do something and we're running out of time, you know according to some of the Demon spies Veronica is going to attack today after sunset".
"I know that's why we have to figure this out".
I sat down and thought . After about ten minutes of thinking I got it.
"Nigel listen, we have to go back ", I said.
"What? We can't do that", he yelled.
"Listen and follow me", I said and walked back.
Once we got to the other side I said, "Lighting ,blast it at the rocks".
"Genius ".
So we both summon led up the strongest bit of Lighting we could and directed it towards the rocks. A deep crack started running down the rocks and they broke to pieces.
The pieces of rock fell into the stream of water or the ice as it is now. The ice on the spots they fell to broke and left holes on the spot the fell to . We quickly waded across the stream and got to the other side. Some parts of the rocks were still there but it wasn't as big as it was before . We climbed over them and got to the other side.
We were facing a valley. A that moment I got a phone call from Raven.
"Scarlett one of the demons told us that Vanessa was killed by a demon not by your father, they had eyewitnesses and they told us no human has enough power with Veronica. You wouldn't be able to get more than five feet close to her without getting killed", Raven said all in one breath.
"But we came this far , we can't give up, I'll do it ", I said and ended the call before she could say anything else.
"Come on lets go ", I said turning to Nigel.
We had walked for about forty five minutes when I looked at the map again ,"We need to go through this tunnel", I said pointing at the tunnel which I only saw now . The two of us walked in and it was very dark , we couldn't even see our own hands. We both summomed up a bit of fire to light the way and I got to admit the place looked less creepy when there's light.
"There's supposed to be some sort of hole something here ,we gotta go there", Nigel said jabbing the map with his is index finger.
I kept walking till we came across the hole.
"I'll jump first ", Nigel said and jumped in.
I jumped in after him. I fell for six full seconds until I landed on the ground ...or what I thought was the ground.
"Sorry Nigel", I said getting up.
"It's ok", he said standing up and rubbing his stomach .
I took a good look around the place where we were at . It was another cave but this one creepier .
