The next morning, Grace was still angry with Ithel for suggesting she needed to change something about her body and upset with herself for believing that he would ever want her. So, she skipped breakfast and went right to the bathroom to get ready.
Ithel woke up when Grace started her electric toothbrush, so he put on his clothes he found in the dryer and went ahead and made coffee hoping that would smooth things over between them.
When Grace walked out of the bathroom, she was surprised to smell coffee and thought, "Did Ithel make me coffee?" But, she quickly convinced herself she was being delusional and hurried into her bedroom.
After getting ready for work, she ordered a car using one of those apps that are so popular these days not wanting to have to spend the time it took to travel by bus to her work with him and walked into the kitchen.
Ithel started to say, "I made you some coffee," but she cut him off by saying, "I ordered a car that's almost here, so we need to go."
Ithel nodded his head and asked, "Do you have a travel mug?"
Grace said, "Yes, in there," as she pointed at one of her cabinets and left the room.
Ithel got a travel mug and poured the coffee he had prepared for her in it. Then, he followed her into the living room, and said, "Here you go."
"You made me coffee?" asked Grace as she took the mug from Ithel.
"I did."
Grace took a sip and said excitedly, "And you put just the right amount of milk in."
"That's what I was trying for."
Grace smiled and thought, "He may not find me attractive, but at least he's nice."
After they got into the car Grace had ordered, Ithel said softly, "I wanted to clarify something I said last night. When I said I could fix something about your body, I wasn't saying I thought you should change anything about your body. I was just letting you know that was something I could do if you wanted me to."
Grace said, "Oh, ok," while doing her best to hide how happy he had made her feel, and she immediately began to think that maybe something could happen between them and maybe something would've last night, if she hadn't over reacted to his comment because what he was saying did make sense. He's a genie. It's his job to make her happy or at least fulfill her wishes and based upon what she had said last night, she could see how he would think changing her body would make her happy.
But, then she thought that since he was her genie was it wrong for her to have feelings for him? Was she taking advantage of the situation?
While Grace was pondering those questions, Ithel asked, "Where did you put the KitchenAid you wished for?"
"Oh, it's in my room."
"Why is it in your room?"
"Because it's for my mom."
Ithel couldn't believe it. She had used her first two wishes on other people. Well, she didn't actually mean to use her first wish on Kari, but still. What an amazing woman.
Grace confused Ithel's silence for derision, so she said, "My mom's wanted a KitchenAid for a long time," defensively.
Ithel could tell that he had unintentionally annoyed Grace again, so he said, "I hope she likes it," and hoped that appeased her, which it somewhat did.
