When Grace got back to Claire's, Claire asked, "How's your mom?"
"She's good."
"Did y'all have a good talk?"
"We did," said Grace as she sat down on the couch next to her. "And, I've decided that I need to stop living with Kari."
"I'm so glad to hear that."
She briefly thought about telling Claire that she wasn't going to completely cut Kari out of her life. She was just finding a new place to live, but decided she didn't want to get into all that. So, she just nodded.
"And, you know you could move in here."
Grace immediately said, "I couldn't do that."
"Why not? I have the room, and splitting one rent would be good for both of us."
"I don't know," said Grace as she wondered over why she felt some hesitation or dare I say trepidation about moving in with Claire. "Can I think it over? I don't think I'm able to make that decision right now."
"Sure. Take your time, and know you can stay here until you figure out what you want to do."
"Thanks."
That night as she was lying in bed trying to decide if she should move in with Claire, Grace's mind turned to Ithel. She knew it was probably better that he was gone from her life, but a small part of her wished that he would come back. But, primarily she wondered where he was. Had he headed towards Napa or had he decided to go somewhere else? Was he sleeping in his new RV or had he gotten a hotel? Was he alone or was he with someone?
While Grace was wondering those questions, Ithel was hunkered down in his hiding spot in the trees and shrubs outside Grace's or I guess I should probably now say Kari's apartment hoping that she would come back.
